call to the VA Hotline went something like this…

ME: It’s been eight weeks and one day since you received my application, and the gentleman that I talked to last week said to call back at this point.
VA: Yes eight weeks is overdue for processing. Let me see..we received your application on 22 June. Call us back after the 22nd.
ME: Why? My application is already past eight weeks.
VA: Because the 22nd makes it two months.
ME: So is it eight weeks or two months?
VA: Two months is like eight weeks.

I have since asked my critter’s constituent services staff for help.

The other examples you provided are depressing indeed.

way back in the 70′s. Not the new one, but the problem back then was the same, the money never came until about 4 weeks were left in the semester. The vets had to tough it out, or go every other semester, because the money wouldn’t arrive in time to pay for two semesters in a row.
One can only imagine the same caliber of people in charge of health care.

plus page bill. There should probably be a legalese bill made available to the public as there is now, the actual bill but also some sort of official summary of majoor points in layman’s terms so we don’t depend on politicians spinning the legalese bills to mean whatever they want. The current language of these bills is problematic.

it is a terrible thing for people and their families to get off unemployment and work again and maybe spend some money
in their communities. i just couldn’t look hard enough to find
the negative aspects in the nitty gritty details.

…with school starting soon. Delays may have vets paying their own way through most of the semester.

This government is failing miserably at almost everything they touch. But they’re ready to tackle 10s of millions more people to the gov’t health care rolls that they can take months to years and years to complete claims for?

I’m not sure if even the people who are worried are seeing how bad things are getting when it comes to depending on current programs… let alone all of the miserable snafus being created recently.

It’s easier to joke about Cash for Clunkers. A lot harder when one looks at the disability claims backlog for veterans approaching a million… with wait times extending years upon years when they inevitably screw up the decision because quotas trump quality right now according to its own inspector general.

Just depressing.

I keep reading from the democrats how great it is/was a great idea, and I keep reading from everyone else ‘the benefit of the doubt’ from a moral standpoint.

It was, in the context of a 3 quarter trillion dollar stimulus, an economic trial balloon. It was one way for them to bounce economic ideas off of tax payers, with tax payer money, for the end idea of how best to control tax payers. Period.
