From Gallup:
The sharp decline in Gallup’s Index of Investor Optimism in June — particularly the plunge in expectations for the economy — suggests that investors may be losing some of their hopes for an immediate improvement in the U.S. economy later this year. This is consistent with the leveling off of consumers’ mood over the past few weeks and the drop in the consumer sentiment index on Tuesday.
Gallup’s job-market and consumer spending measures suggest that the reality on Main Street has not improved substantially over the past couple of months. Perhaps the average investor and the American consumer see the fragile nature of the current U.S. economy more clearly than do those on Wall Street.
Job report suggests that green shoots are yellow weeds turning into brown manure. Jobs & hours & wage losses are pushing down labor income

Central planning=EPIC FAIL.
the_invisible_hand (Diary) Thursday, July 2nd at 11:59AM EST (link)It isn’t like this is breaking news. We all know this, but the seductive appeal of planning is going to win out. I think it is hardwired in us from our evolutionary past. Our ability to plan out hunting strategies and the like set us apart from other animals and now we think we can plan anything and everything. Tsk. Tsk. I don’t know how we are going to get out of this mess.
The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn’t work and then they get elected and prove it.

Have you every watched a pack of coyotes
bobojake (Diary) Thursday, July 2nd at 12:10PM EST (link)attack a herd of sheep. Watch the T-Parties for obama, the Senate and House of Representatives and you must then spend the next month daily faxing, calling and writing your Senators and Congressman.
The Senators and Congressman have been the Sheep of obama butIi think they are waking up as they will be voted out of office for not working for the taxpayer but for the marxist the last 5 months.
The coyotes are waking up.
bobojake, Congress is probably our only hope
peg_c (Diary) Friday, July 3rd at 6:27AM EST (link)Meaning I agree with you. I wake up in the middle of the night with heart palpitations worrying about our country, our futures, and the disasters this admin. is very knowingly perpetrating upon us. Congress, as horrible and dastardly as it is, may be our only hope, in that fear of a wholesale slaughter next year could conceivably drive some sense into their heads and force them to put the brakes on this Marxist train.
They should all be in fear for their jobs every day, but it’s critical that THEY lie awake every night worrying about losing their jobs and their power. It shouldn’t be just us the people worrying about or actually losing our jobs, futures, grandkids’ futures, not to mention liberty and a “free” market that is the engine for the whole world. We have to keep the pressure on Congress, since this evil thug cannot force through these programs without their approval. Make Congress lie awake with heart palpitations and imminent heart attacks. Threaten their positions and their power.
Government cannot be the solution when government is the problem.
obama can only read the same words from the same flashcards only so long
bobojake (Diary) Thursday, July 2nd at 12:05PM EST (link)and the they smell like the basement of an Outhouse in 100 degree heat and people aren’t buying obamas’ LIES any more.
If obamas’ ElCrapo Carbon Tax and Shove and Healthcare is passed by the Senate the bottom of the market will be where when MOM asked my brothers and I, we was diggin that hole when we were kids. We were digging to China. It scares me how these words may come true with this incompetent president, his adminstration and Senators and Congressman of the united states of America.
Romer's actually leaving the table open to a second stimulus!
jonreagan (Diary) Thursday, July 2nd at 12:11PM EST (link)Christina Romer—team Obama’s version of Aunt Bea—was trotted out this morning to take the beating for June unemployment numbers; even the Government sector showed a loss of jobs (52,000). How the government can lose jobs four months after an $800 billion spending bill gets passed has to represent a new level of incompetence.
Romer—on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street”—-seemed to be near tears as she got grilled. But she refused to take a second stimulus bill off the table when questioned by the show’s hosts. To me, this is all getting surreal; or at least like a slow motion accident that just never seems to end.
From the get-go, this effort was doomed to failure. In his typical lack of leadership, Obama handed the Congress an $800 billion blank check, without any direction as to priorities. Problem is, the product you get from asking 535 people to craft policy is just a patchwork quilt, full of compromises. By contrast, the economic stimulus in China is a massive, coherent effort to rebuild and modernize infrastructure. Ours is just a collection of pork barrel items, which amount to walking-around money for the appropriators. Adding insult to injury, the VP who was tasked with overseeing the stimulus bill’s implementation informed reporters two weeks ago that his strong suit was foreign policy, not economics. And he followed that one with the defense that “look, everyone guessed wrong” on the stimulus. No, Joe, not everyone did.
This administration is just one big clown show. Where will it all end up? Just look at California today.

We are being gamed past the tipping point.
Kenny Solomon (Diary) Thursday, July 2nd at 12:31PM EST (link)I have one question, directed to those in the big-time money world… especially RedState’s own Francis C.
How is it that the US markets and the Dollar didn’t completely tank the first time The Federal Reserve bought Treaury Notes – a.k.a. “Monetizing” ?
Folks, if you don’t realize what this means…… The US Government bought it’s own loan…..and has done it more than once since, to the total tune SO FAR of hundreds of billions of dollars, if not already in the trillion dollar range.
Paying the Visa bill with your Mastercard, then paying the Mastercard bill with your Discover Card and then paying your Discover Card bill with something else, right up until the only card left is your American Express.
American Express Card bills are due in full at the end of each month.
Anybody have an idea when our Amex bill is due ?
They will just go back to the Visa
Christine (Diary) Thursday, July 2nd at 2:06PM EST (link)and circle around, so long as we let them get away with it.
When Visa, or MC, or Discover, or the American people call foul, that’s when it will truly come due.
The primary process is FLAWED. Two states should not decide our candidate.

My honest guess is.......
Kenny Solomon (Diary) Thursday, July 2nd at 7:22PM EST (link)The “Amex bill” is due whenever China and The Saudis say it is.
I'd watch the Treasury auctions
jonreagan (Diary) Thursday, July 2nd at 8:11PM EST (link)I don’t think it will happen this year, but sometime in 2010, one of the Treasury Bill auctions could fail. Even if that doesn’t happen, the longe-term auctions–10′s and 30′s—-have been kind of scary lately, and will continue to be. China, et al. are willing to buy up the shorter term bills, but are scared of the longer term bonds, understandably.
Bottom line, if the Fed doesn’t step in to buy when demand is low, yields will go up, driving up interest rates. And that will make any recovery pretty much impossible.
I say go ahead let obama try and RAHM through another Stimulus.
bobojake (Diary) Thursday, July 2nd at 12:35PM EST (link)Cantwell Democrat Washington State didn’t vote for the 1st one and I think reid and obama have figured out what good is Franken 60th vote whern you will lose 25 along the way for another Obama failure.
obamas failures are now being tied directly to the Senators voting for obamas foney fraudulent obamaonmics and pinky reid no longer has the control of his pimps.
We would have been better off with No "Stimulus" according to Obama

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

Using Glenn Beck's idea to send a message
archer52 Thursday, July 2nd at 1:14PM EST (link)I posted this on my website www.truthandcommonsense.com
If we could do this without getting on a watch list somewhere, it would be a hoot. More importantly it would be a visible message that would tell our wayward representatives that no job is guaranteed.

Glenn Beck’s idea turned into a protest, send a noose.
Posted July 2nd, 2009 by admin
A couple of days ago Beck lamented he needed a noose to hang himself because of the ongoing trials our nation faces. It was a funny bit as he asked listeners to send in different types and colors of nooses so he could chose.
As I listened to him, an idea hit me. Why don’t we send nooses to Congress? Of course, send a little note saying, “If you don’t do the right thing, you can use this to hang up your career.” We don’t want the already overworked Secret Service to be worried.
You can use string, or twine, or small rope and make any noose you want. Colored string would be fun. To point is to let the nobles know that no job is guaranteed.
See Louisiana below
tanstaafl1019 Tuesday, July 7th at 11:55AM EST (link)I had exactly the same comment. Nooses would be a VERY bad idea, because there is some stigma that goes back to the days of the lynchings, etc.
It doesn’t matter what symbolism is intended. It will be taken as a racist comment. Even if you attach a note explaining your point, it will still be perceived as racist. Remember back when some aide got fired because he used the word “niggardly”? Even if you’re armed with the dictionary definition, you’d still be called a racist for using that word–despite the lack of any connection whatsoever to race.
The two highest achievements of the human mind are the twin concepts of “loyalty” and “duty.” Whenever these twin concepts fall into disrepute—get out of there fast! You may possibly save yourself, but it is too late to save that society. It is doomed.
Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors–and miss.
please take my advice
louisiana (Diary) Thursday, July 2nd at 7:14PM EST (link)and do not send a noose. The Black caucus, Bro. Al, & J.J.,& bleeding hearts will be all over that with screams of racism.
