Democrat Congressman Boren: This Bill is Un-American; Obama is a Partisan

I couldn’t agree more:

Blue Dog Democrat Boren, the lone Democrat [in the Oklahoma delegation - bf], was the first to pop off about President Obama.

Boren said Obama “missed an opportunity” for the stimulus bill to be bipartisan.

“It was a good thing for the president to meet with Republicans. The previous administration never met with Democratic members of Congress.

“The problem is that it became a Democrat bill and not an American bill,” Boren continued, “because he didn’t use any of the Republican ideas.”

Apart from us conservatives, Boren seems to be one of the few who recognizes that Obama has been talking through his hat. The President has droned on about bipartisanship, but this bill is a partisan vehicle. Recall that at his first meeting with Congressional Republicans, Obama was encouraging about using some of their ideas, only to reject them all later — because ‘he won.’ Obama has denigrated Republican ideas, while press secretary Robert Gibbs has been forced to admit that he can’t think of a single proposal suggested by a Republican that Obama included in the bill.

Boren now joins Walt Minnick among the Democrat truth tellers.

Can we recruit this guy?

He;s obviously in a party that doesn’t agree with his ideology. Maybe we can get him to flip.

The Nutroots hate him. I sometimes wonder why he’s a Democrat – apart from the fact that his father was a legendary Democrat officeholder in the state.

You have to imagine he’ll be a candidate for party-switching when the Republicans next take over the House (or come close).

If he is a John McCain we need to defeat him in the general election and avoid the moderates that are causing the deaf of the GOP.

Some of our best people are converts.

Renaldus Magnus comes to mind. As do other greats such as Moe Lane and Kowalski.

I don’t know anything about this guy, except he’s willing to stand up to his party and Obama and call out the pork and hypocrisy. That’s worth giving him a chance. Unless he’s a raving loon on other issues, we should give this guy a look and a recruiting call.

Converts are welcome, but political whores need not apply.

I am all for someone changing parties because the have had a change in their basic ideological assumptions, but if he were to change parties only to be a rino I say “let them go their way”.

Converts on the other hand have decided to reject their former political beliefs and embrace the ideology of republicanism, conservatism. libertarianism, federalism, or a combination of the four.

So yes to converts, no to political whores.

After giving his little speech to try and appease the GOP voters in his district he then goes into the caucus and votes for Nancy Pelosi. This was the Pelosi show when one of these gutless wonders stands and takes on Pelosi then praise them.

when he voted “yes” two weeks ago. He talks tough until it’s time to punch the button.

Makes me wonder, and worry, about later votes.

When this unbridled power grab by the Democrats in Congress sails through, regardless of how much of the normal process (which is itself rather corrupt) is bypassed, how will this do anything but ‘embolden’ Congressional leaders on the left from doing the same things for regular, non ‘emergency’, legislation?
Will we see much the same back room, behind closed doors, secret meetings as other spending bills are crafted?
Why wouldn’t the Congress do that?
No one is calling them on it this time!
Or at least no one with the stones to make them slow this mad rush to disaster down a little.

“The previous administration never met with Democratic members of Congress.”

A lie. A flat-out, bald-faced lie.

Typical democrat.

Boren Just Voted for the Bill

arlingtonian (Diary) Friday, February 13th at 3:15PM EST (link)

He voted for the stimulus both times. He apparently can talk a big game but not vote against the thing when it really matters. It’s astonishing how many Blue Dogs voted for this thing.
