A peaceful protest is a good thing and has been since we began using them before the founding of this country. All around are reports of people coming together to march and talk about problems that we need to correct in this nation, but there are groups who would rather these talks and marches not be peaceful and go to great lengths in order to escalate violence and destruction.

In Texas, marches have sprung up in major cities that start peaceful but quickly devolved into riots thanks to bad actors using the outrage as an opportunity to make things worse. These are groups like Antifa, who make it their job to stir up hatreds and prejudices in order to disrupt and harm the system.

Many of these people come from out of state in order to help birth these riots, and as a result, great damage is done to communities and cities. In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott isn’t playing games with them anymore. According to him, if Texas police catch them, they’re getting handed over to the feds:

Governor Greg Abbott, along with all four United States Attorneys in Texas, announced today that individuals who come to Texas from out of state to engage in looting, violence, or other destructive acts in violation of federal law will be subject to federal prosecution. Anyone who is arrested and charged with such offenses will be transferred to federal custody. The United States Attorneys will be working with local prosecutors and law enforcement officials to aggressively identify crimes that violate federal law. The four United States Attorneys joining this announcement are: John F. Bash, Erin Nealy Cox, Stephen J. Cox, and Ryan K. Patrick.

“Texans must be able to exercise their First Amendment rights without fear of having agitators, including those coming from out-of-state, hijack their peaceful protest,” said Governor Abbott and the U.S. Attorneys. “Today’s announcement will ensure there are harsh consequences for those breaking the law and that they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Agitators have been hijacking protests all over the country, but lately, many protesters have been pushing back and attempting to shut them down either by reason or by force.
