The pre/post show interactions between Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo oftentimes make news, usually due to something ridiculous Don Lemon said, but every now and again Chris Cuomo of all people will say something completely sensible.

The first time that happened was when Cuomo called Lemon “petty and small” over Lemon saying he’d refuse to be civil with President Donald Trump during George H.W. Bush’s funeral.

Now we have Cuomo actually defending Trump’s wall.

During their show switchover moment, Lemon complained that Trump just got to air his speech without any interference from the press, arguing that there should be a delay so the press can have their way with it first, and their narrative can be overlayed on top of it.

“Listen, I’m not saying that we shouldn’t do it, but do you think it should be — I don’t know — a delay of some sort, and then you can — because people believe it,” said Lemon. “The President will say what he has to say. People will believe it whether the facts are true or not. I guess that’s the chance you take with any president….But this one is different. And then by the time the rebuttals come on, we’ve already promoted propaganda possibly, unless he gets up there and tells the truth.”

Cuomo, in a surprising moment, came back with a completely fair take on everything from Trump’s speech to — most surprising of all — the border wall.

“He has his right to make the argument to the American people,” Cuomo responded. “And by the way, wanting barriers along the border is not propaganda. It’s not immoral. It’s not wrong.”

Cuomo seems to be on one of the first entities on the left to come out and say that a border wall isn’t an immoral thing. Interestingly enough, Democrats held this position for a very long time, and as recently as the Obama administration.

Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi both held that border security was something of a priority not long ago, and Schumer was on video in 2009 talking about how border barriers are a common sense move for protecting the border.
