Nancy Pelosi's Toxic Femininity Rears Its Ugly Head, but I'm Sure "Equality" Minded Feminists Will Jump Right On It

Nancy Pelosi isn’t afraid to use her womanhood as a weapon against her opponents be they Republican or Democrat, and you can rest assured that she’s more than willing to traipse right into sexist territory to do it.

According to The Hill, Rep. Nancy Pelosi once again used the wink-wink-nudge-nudge insult about President Donald Trump’s border wall being linked to his “manhood.” The California Democrat dropped the little joke after her meeting with the President in the Oval Office during a closed-door meeting with the Democrats:

“It’s like a manhood thing for him. As if manhood could ever be associated with him. This wall thing,” the California Democrat told members of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee in a closed-door meeting after returning to the Capitol.

Pelosi also relished in the fact that Trump said he would “proudly” take ownership for a government shutdown — something Democratic leaders were quick to seize on in a press conference following the extraordinary, televised meeting.

“But the fact is we did get him to say, to fully own that the shutdown was his,” Pelosi said, according to two sources inside the room. “That was an accomplishment.”

This isn’t the first time Pelosi has made this joke and insulting Trump over his “manhood” in order to get her zings in. Back in October, Pelosi made the same jab while speaking to students at Harvard Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics.

“It happens to be like a manhood issue for the president, building a wall, and I’m not interested in that,” said Pelosi.

This is rich coming from Pelosi, who starts screaming sexism whenever someone questions her leadership ability.

In fact, Pelosi used the fact that she was a woman as a shield against Democratic criticism when it came time to select a leadership role for the House after Democrats had won it back from Republicans during the midterms.

So not only is Pelosi keen to use her gender as a shield, she’s more than willing to use it as a sword. If a man had done this in order to obtain power and accomplish goals, he would be accused of propagating the patriarchy and labeled as a sexist from every mouth on the left.

The hypocrisy of it all aside, I have to wonder if women are concerned that Pelosi is making them look bad by promoting the idea that women should just be handed things because they’re women, and not because they accomplish things. According to Democrats, Pelosi isn’t all that great of a leader, and even tried to throw up a resistance against her becoming Speaker.

I’d say it’s a wonder feminist groups aren’t attacking her for it, but feminist groups don’t sign on to the merit-based reward idea. They believe that women are infallible and should go unquestioned. This can create all sorts of problems, not least of which is a fomented bias against men, and the idea that you can insult them and blame them for every problem under the sun.

That’s quite the toxic approach.

I’m sure feminists will get right on correcting that.
