Fred in His Own Words

There is not much to add to this. It is just another example of Fred being Fred, talking about his love for America and his hope for a greater tomorrow. It was truly refreshing to watch a politician speak from his heart, and not according to the latest poll or focus group. I hope everyone, especially those voters in Iowa, will take the time to listen to Fred and his vision for America. I know it is lengthy, but some things just can't be condensed into 30 second sound bites.
I think just for the net...Unless he decided to do a Ross Perot style infomercial, it would be way too long for tv.
it is good it went here though, this is how it can matter.

Is that like the classic teacher-parent "You'll shoot your eye out" BB-gun block?
Hey, I've done it too....

I won't, but I challenge everyone that is nto a Fredhead to watch this and then say with a stright face they don't yearn for this man as President.
With a straight face, I can say that I do not yearn for this man to be president. I watched this - to see if there is something that I might somehow be missing. I'm not - it's just like listening to a rather dull reading of of the GOP party platform. Fred himself says it best when he points out that we are not electing a bunch of position papers - we are electing a leader. And then he points to a clever stunt he pulled in a debate as the best example of him being a great leader. Somehow that's a better example of leadership than Rudy on 9/11 or Romney with the Olympics.
Fred asks who we want representing us when facing our enemies across a table. McCain faced our enemies under the hardest possible circumstances and he held firm.
Fred gives us very little here - other than being called on to help out Ms. Rice and helping getting the CJ through the Senate. That's just not a reason to vote for someone. And not to harp on style but whereas McCain's constant repitition of 'my friends' gets on my nerves, I don't think I could deal with Fred's fidgeting hands for very long without going nuts!
McCain can't hold firm with Kennedy or Schumer -- compromise this and compromise that is all we've gotten from the man lately!
Don't get me wrong the man served bravely but that has little barring as we've had an up close and personal look at his appeasement on issues in the Senate!

I am left with the feeling of the spouse being asked to take back the cheating husband,
you know that betrayal and heartbreak are just around the corner.
commercials about McCain. They can just subscribe to Rush 24/7 and get all of the parodies and other material they need. It would be a blood bath. Rush has pointed out time and again how McCain has been out of step with conservatives and the majority of the Republican party.
It became about his fidgeting hands. FDR was in a wheelchair, thank God he did not have to deal with this kind of superficial bologna.
You didn't say anything that I take exception to until that. I do admire McCain for what he went through, Rudy for 9-11. Olympics... hmm, I'm sold on the accomplishment, not sold on it making him more of a successful business man or executive than any other biz man or executive in the country. I'm sure many of them would be jokes as Presidents.
But it is really important for the Fred naysayers to make some effort not to simply echo the critics.
I'm surprised by this from McCain supporter. A man who I like, John McCain and Fred Thompson are not very different in experience, especially on foreign affairs. And last I checked, McCain does not come off as a cover model either, so let's try to keep this debate to the issues.

I am now convinced that Fred Thompson would make a first-rate vice president. He is like Dick Cheney in a lot of important ways: steady, serious, straight-talking, and reassuring.
I think he would be happier serving as vice president too. He would have more time to spend with his young children and he wouldn't lose ten years of his life to stress.
I know he has has said he wouldn't accept VP. But I hope he will reconsider.
You clearly weren't paying attention. It's not a matter of him not "accepting" VP, it's a matter of there being no point.
Wow, that was long. I like Fred. I like his ideas and I wish he had been this articulate throughout the campaign. I think this was a good video. It did not make me yearn for him to be president, in fact it didn't change my opinion of him at all. He is still a distant second to Romney. I won't go into detail, since my name attracts vicious FredHeads to attack. I will just say that if Fred is the nominee, he has my vote. I think he would be a better president than any of the Democrats and definitely better than Huckabee. I see why you FredHeads like the guy, I just feel Romney is far superior.

I'm still not sure why this seemed powerful to me. Nothing different or new. Just Fred. Only thing I can figure is it comes absent any other ingredient.
Fred, straight, no on-the-rocks.
Really powerful.

But I do like the reaching out to JFK Dems (my insert) and I think it was well spoken, clear and concise, and will resonate will all Republicans, not just Iowans.
Got to get this video around in Iowa. Clinton has such a closing video that will be on TV.
I've been in this for a while now, and that video was a nice closing argument reiterating my tireless support for this man.

...the way in which Fred reached out to Independents and Democrats, to my knowledge he's the first to do so.
I thought this was a powerful presentation. I hope most of the caucus goers get to see it, as I know they stay extremely well informed.

For example:
--Hey Dems, here's something I call McCain-Feingold. It allows all Dems to lie, cheat, and steal elections, while Republicans have their hands tied by regulations that violate the First Amendment.
--Hey Dems, I'm going to help you preserve the right to unconstitutionally filibuster judicial nominees.
--Hey Dems, I'm going to help you smear our troops and mission with foolish talk about torture.

not only is Fred consistent in his principles, but he will be able to reach out to and attract the independents and conservative democrats. Fred will not have to explain away a flip flopping back and forth of Mitt or the beg to be trusted just once more as McCain is doing.
Fred makes the best presentation for why he should be the next POTUS.
I just finished watching this video. As a former conservative campaign professional, I would be interested in knowing where and how it ran.
That aside, after watching, I could only remark to my family, "We've got to support this man."
Twenty-seven years ago, I was watching a man known as "Governor Reagan", who articulated principles that I intuitively knew would end the expansion of Soviet communism, fight the double-digit inflation and interest rates I was paying (as a college kid), and attempt to promote the values that made America blessed and great. I quit college to work for "The Cause", and I have never regretted spending a lot of my younger years doing so.
I waited for Fred to specify his beliefs, waited for him to get in the race, waited for him to show he wanted it enough to "bust it" (as we say in Alabama).
It appears to me that Mr. Romney changes his values to fit his candidacy, Mr. Guiliani has too many personal integrity issues (my grandaddy told me a man that would lie to cheat on his wife will eventually show his true colors and lie to you), Sen. McCain would never get my vote due to his cozying up to his friends like Kennedy and his love for illegal aliens, and finally, Mr. Huckabee (who I liked on his social issues) just doesn't appear to understand what a successful foreign policy is based on nor the fact that a government that intrudes on rights (even for a good cause) is still threatening our freedoms.
The time to support Fred Thompson is NOW. We're in.

How do you function with all those strings attached? I decided those bored by Fred Thompson don't have the intelligence to understand. They need simple little sentences and even simplier concepts otherwise it is like teaching algebra to a first grader.
combined with ADHD. They can't pay attention for anything more than quick sound-bites.
I don't even need to read your posts or those of GreatDarkGapBetweenTheEars...they're all like instant replays of your previous ones...

I agree with this statement:
"It appears to me that Mr. Romney changes his values to fit his candidacy, Mr. Guiliani has too many personal integrity issues (my grandaddy told me a man that would lie to cheat on his wife will eventually show his true colors and lie to you), Sen. We need Fred Thompson as our next President.
Senator McCain should be respected for his military service.
He needs to continue to serve his country as a Senator. I think he would also make an excellent Secretary of Defense.
Mr. Romney could have a an excellent movie career he is a better actor than Fred. Mr. Huckabee is weak in many areas and is not ready to serve as President of this great country.
You got to like Fred.
Seriously, he would make a great President.
Interesting. I tuned into Red State for conservative dialogue. For a few months it was interesting, informative and challenging.
Now it is a website dedicated to propping up one candidate.
I love how all I need to do is write "I LOVE FRED FOR PRESIDENT" (not in caps of course) and all of sudden whatever gibberish I write will be recommended.
Awesome.
I will be so happy when he concedes, so I can see what creativity readers and writers on this blog truly possess.
I like FDT. I just don't Love him. It is as if he started a cult, and Red State is the message board.
I support Huck, but I am not a blind follower. Wake up FredHeads, he is one or two primaries from dropping. He will not make it past SC.
Again, watch him endorse McCain.

You probably had not yet arrived on our halcyon shores, but back in November I wrote this: Is Fred Thompson McCain's Stalking Horse?
It has been what he has done SINCE that post that has convinced me to go from uncommitted, having earlier written complementary articles about both Huckabee and Rudy, to an openly Thompson supporter.

from the OfficialFred08Store since I just bought a bunch of stuff. I'm still trying to watch it all (it's fairly long; I'm back on Night Shift and dang if work doesn't keep interrupting- the nerve!).
He is comfortable, confident, matter-of-fact, articulate, and right. I'll be donating more tomorrow (payday).
GO FRED!

I just retired after 38yrs in Law Enforcement in Southern California with over 20yrs as a Senior hostage Negotiator and Field Supervising Sergeant. I say this because I believe my life experience qualifies me to recognize a real leader when I see one. I believe you can't teach someone to be a leader. He or She is born with it. Yes you can teach someone tactics and you an show them leadership, but that won't make them a leader. It comes from the way they think and how they make decisions. Look at some of our great leaders and you will find that they make decisions using commmon sense, the law, and compassion. They have firm convictions and will stand their ground. They do not get rattled. They are determined. They talk to you not at you and they are interested in what your opinions are. Lastly, they follow the adage of Lead, Follow, or get out of the way. Fred Thomposn is the man I want in the White House because at this point in history we need him.
when he concedes.

I've seen this many times. It's always interesting to watch the dynamics in action and try to figure out why my thinking was right or wrong. Perspective is everything. From the California view point I see some good in that all the votes don't go to any one candidate as they did before. I wish it were that way in all the states. If Thompson doesn't make it I will go with my second choice and hope he is good enough.
Fred is right on the issues & can communicate his ideas as well or better than anyone running. It's because he's right on the issues that I support him.
Freds main problem is that he cannot communicate his ideas. Every candidate we have is more articulate that Fred, including he who shall not be named.
He sounds great in this recording, but I think he came off poorly in the debates. He seemed too hesitant - whether he was lost (unlikely) or just measuring his words carefully or what I can't say. Reagan would hesitate and then roll out some zinger that captured the moment. Fred just seems to be lacking a little *something* needed to get to that sort of level. But if he came off as well in the debates as he did in this recording then he'd be higher up in the polls I think.
I’m listening to a replay of Fred on FNS this morning and when Chris Wallace asks him, “Straight out, do you think Mike Huckabee is prepared to be Commander and Chief?” I can clearly hear someone (not Fred or Chris) say, “No.” I’m listening on head phones to the post on RCP, part two of the posting at 1:15 into the video (http://www.redstate.com/blogs/ugadawg/2007/dec/30/fred_in_his_own_words).
What is this CR@P? I can live with the blatant slant of his quotes, the almost complete blackout of any coverage for weeks as well as the rest of the games the MSM has been playing but this is the straw that broke my back. Get out your headphones and take a listen. I’ve had enough!
Come on fellow Fredheads, we can’t allow this to continue!!! Get your fingers flying, not just your middle one’s like I did after hearing this, and let RPC, FOX and anyone else who will listen know that we’re not going to tolerate this kind of subliminal garbage. I’ll be sending emails to the campaign and to every news media outlet I can think of. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
but I burst out laughing when I read this. You've got to be kidding me. The media is not against Fred, Fred has poor media relations. Fault his campaign, or whoever, but Fred does not seem to know how to handle the media. There is no conspiracy against Fred.
I better go to sleep before I wake everyone up.
* PRIESTCRAFT is thus defined: “The stratagem and frauds of priests; fraud or imposition in religious concerns. Management of selfish and ambitious priests to gain wealth and power, or to impose upon the credulity of others.”
I like the guy's policies, but he comes off like a bored old professor on TV. That's not the media's fault, it's his. If he were scoring big with people on a personal level, he'd be up in the polls (witness Huckabee).
everyone's asleep from reading your postings - they're so monotonous that they put us all out.
