Patriotism- Darwinist vs. Originalist

Yesterday when Senator Obama went to Independence, Kansas to talk about patriotism, it got me thinking. Now, I imagine there's about 300 million different exact versions of what it means to be a "patriot" in this country. From where I'm standing though, I reckon these 300 million versions can be classified down to two distinct groups, Originalist Patriots and Darwinist Patriots.
An Originalist Patriot is one that believes in the original meaning of our Constitution. An Originalist Patriot is one that jealously guards the God given rights layed down in that precious original document. An Originalist Patriot is one that puts no other document before the Constitution in deciding ANYTHING. When it comes to any sort of "change" in the fundamental meanings layed down therein, an Originalist Patriot demands the change be difficult to accomplish and never knee-jerked into existence.
A Darwinist Patriot believes that the Constitution is a living breathing document. A Darwinist Patriot is one that sees the Constitution as an ever evolving list of suggestions to be altered to fit the cause du jour. A Darwinist Patriot believes that international law and precedent can and should be considered before deciding ANYTHING. A Darwinist Patriot believes in the centralized control of America through a mega-sized federal government. Since a Darwinist Patriot views the Constitution as a suggestions list, a Darwinist Patriot believes that change should come as fast as food in a drive-through, a McConstitution.
Now if I had to guess, I'd say most of you reading this fall under the Originalist Patriot category. I'd put dollars to donuts that a lot of you have been pretty disgusted when Obama says "don't question my patriotism", because the term is used like a toilet seat in a truckstop. When he says "I won't challenge yours if you don't challenge mine", but then has his surrogates do that very thing, that's a green light go for us. Liberals love to define the terms of discourse, and we've let them do it for far too long.
The term "unpatriotic" is a term that is almost taboo in America. Heck, Rush doesn't even use it. Since a "patriot" has been in the eyes of the beholder, the liberals have reveled in its ambiguity for a long, long time. Though "unpatriotic" is a term seldom used, nobody ever said that "patriot" couldn't have refined descriptors attached that do the same thing. Senator Obama, I'm not questioning your patriotism. From what I've seen, you are a great Darwinist Patriot, in the mold of George Soros, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Rahm Emanuel, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Souter, Stevens, Saul Alinski, Bill Ayres, "Pastor" Wright, et. al. infinitum. Have a nice day!
