CNN Poll Shows Disaster For Progressive Agenda

A poll published by CNN/Opinion Research Corp. on our Nation's Birthday this year says "69 percent of adult Americans who responded to a poll June 26-29 said the signers of the Declaration of Independence would be disappointed by the way the nation has turned out overall."

Sounds interesting doesn't it?

Twenty Nine percent responded the Founding Fathers would be pleased with the way things are in this country. Sixty Nine percent of adult Americans believe the Founding Fathers of this nation would not be happy with the way it is right now. So what is it they would not be happy with? Is it, as progressive children want us to believe, how bad the war in Iraq is going, how bad President Bush has been for the nation, how much civil liberties have been trampled in the quest to wage a mythical war on a tiny little foreign private group of thugs: is that what the American People are concerned about?

In the poll is the answer. "Americans 'didn't always feel that way,' according to Keating Holland, CNN polling director. 'In 2001, 54 percent thought that the signers of the Declaration of Independence would be pleased with the state of the country today.'" So 15 percent of the polled population has found something wrong since 2001.

How do we identify the progressives in this poll, those people most likely to literally hate the nation, hate the government, specifically hate President Bush and hate by-golly, just about anything American?

"Sixty-one percent said they were extremely proud to be Americans; another 28 percent said they were very proud. Seven percent answered 'moderately,' 2 percent said 'only a little,' and 1 percent answered 'not at all.'"

That means a total of 96% of the nation, personally take pride in their country. It also means that the people who take pride in their country are the ones most concerned about how it would look today to the Founding Fathers. They do not like the way it has turned out in the last few years. "The percentage saying 'extremely proud' was virtually unchanged from 2005. In 2003, 70 percent said they were extremely proud, and 55 percent said so in 2001. All polls were taken in the same time period, June 26-29, as the 2008 poll."

Patriotism is on the rise. Love of country is greater than ever before. Where does that leave the progressive movement and Barak Obama's chances at the White House? Sadly, those are two different issues. The progressive movement is nothing more than a repackaged socialism-nanny-state-wannabe-communism, with no guts to admit it. If the public really knew what the term Progressive really was, the insurance company would have a hard time making ends meet. But they don't. Obama is the prime gutless wonder pushing the positions of socialism and totalitarianism, under the guise of a slick persona and a vacuum of intellectual substance, appealing to the lowest form of drive-by politics. But the American People show in this poll, that the progressive movement, the ones who hate the nation and dream of a panacea of socialist policies comprise just 3 percent of the adult population. Just 3 percent. There is no progressive alive who would be proud, even in the slightest of their country today. They would only be proud, as Michelle Obama stated, now that they have one of their own running for President. It isn't the country. It is the potential to grab the power. Barak Obama's chances at the White House are only as good as his political machine is at buying votes, stealing votes and manipulating the press to deceptively acquire votes. That can be stopped, but I'm still waiting to see if the Administration has its own form of guts.

Progressives yell loud. That is what an emotionally controlled mental wreck does when they cannot control their own emotions, they must control others' emotions (on the school yard that is called a bully, in adult life it is called an abuser). But progressives are a tiny minority of the nation. They run a vast network of blogs screaming about every possible issue that infringes on their belief that the nation should be socialist. Their presence in the mainstream media is no accident. Their (I am very happy to know) former influence in the Executive Branch of this government was treason. Their quest for power has blinded them to their insignificance. They believe in themselves and live in their own worlds where such a belief is required to survive.

But in this poll: their influence is microscopic.

Having managed http://www.countryaboveself.com for some time, I have read, been sent and have found scores of examples of how progressives view love of country. The primary example is poor ol' Stephen Colbert. Stephen Colbert was nominated by a visitor (who wrote the nomination's text) as a Patriot. Visitors have been voting for Colbert as a Patriot but the progressives have been attacking the very notion that Stephen Colbert could even be considered a Patriot. They cannot fathom him loving his country. They claim he is a Democrat and that alone means he cannot be a Patriot. They routinely send themselves in waves to vote his number higher as a Patriot in ridicule that he could be a Patriot. They vote Wonkette as a Traitor because they are pleased to be traitors. They admit that readily. Oh, if I could only say what I want to say at this point, but I'll wait; until I am convinced I can wait no longer. My country is too important to allow three percent of it to steal it from the Founding Fathers who would indeed be vehement in their disdain for how it has become a near socialist state. They would be fuming.

Progressives are just three percent, yet if the right thing does not happen, between this week and the start of the Democratic Convention, that three percent of the most radical leftist, socialist, communist influenced lunatic fringe is going to buy the election of a man to the office of President that will turn this nation into a socialist prison. I created http://www.doomedreport.com to speculate on what that would look like.

CNN's poll shows progressives simply do not matter. But they won't read it that way. They want to speak of how the nation doesn't think the Founding Fathers would like the country today. They can then blame George W. Bush and the Republicans for that condition and the lowest form of politics, the drive-by casual voter will suck it up as if it was fact. The useful idiot is among us and it votes.

While Obama redefines Patriotism to mean the excuse progressives use to justify their self-deception, the rest of the nation knows it means Country Above Self. And I am happy to know so many are so proud of their nation.

And I am flabbergasted that just such a tiny minority of lunatic fringe radicals controls so much.

Vote For the Patriot or The Traitor

Oh, and while you're there.. help Stephen Colbert. He is a Patriot. No matter how much the progressives refuse to believe it.

The Minority Report

In 1993, when I was 23, I received a letter in the mail detailing a $180,000 lawsuit against me from the driver of a car I had rear-ended a few months before. Naturally, it freaked me out, but Progressive basically told me to relax and let their lawyers do the talking. Turns out that driver was someone who had tried to maximize compensation in the past and wasn't demonstrably injured by my accident, and the company talked that driver down to a $10,000 settlement that was well within my $15,000 personal liability coverage. Another car had struck me from behind and I got a decent check from the adjuster for that part of it (and it was the first time I'd seen a terminal, modem and printer in a briefcase).

Years later, I missed a payment on a policy and then found they're the most aggressive of any provider I've had in the pursuit of debt collection. I've been fine since then but I'm not too big on returning to Progressive anytime soon. I knew that before I knew anything about their founder. I appreciate the information.

...is primarily a single-issue lib, as most of them are... his single issue being the legalization of marijuana.

Really.

"Once within the maw of Leviathan, degree of digestion is irrelevant." - Michael Fisk

We alienate people that should be on our side by standing against this.

Quite simply it makes conservatism look like the philosophy of people that put in prohibition and blue laws.

"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."
-Thomas Paine: The American Crisis, No. 4, 1777

There are a lot of people, right and left, who throw around
words like freedom and liberty, but they actually do not trust their neighbor to have the the liberty to lead their life the way they want to.

Here in Texas, we have Republican Ascendancy, and a long culture of pioneer freedoms, and yet we have a government which tries to ticket people for public intoxication while they are sitting INSIDE a bar! They also raided a compound of religious people on bogus grounds.

I hate to sound like a Paultard, but I am really worried about the erosion of personal freedoms.

I have never heard a good conservative argument against the legalization of marijuana, but I have heard many nanny-state arguments against it. Admittedly, I'm more worried about the constitutionality than the perception, but as you say, there is no reason to alientate people who should be on our side.

intellectually that they, as men of the Enlightenment movement, were probably well ahead of the curve of the people's social evolution; indeed, it probably gave them a sense of urgency for their radical experiment. It turned out to be true, for better or for worse (think "how the West was won"), so I imagine they'd first be grateful that the system has been preserved and that we're a nation of laws. Beyond that, I doubt if they'd be terribly surprised at where we are culturally.

Having my own 'tag' in the wonkette site, for both my personal name and the site, i'd really just love to hear their take on this one. But alas, even though I know (as I have followed some) there are quite a few lurker progressives running inside RedState, I don't think any will respond to this, let alone recommend it for further reading by others. No guts.

Vote For the Patriot or The Traitor

this is what clued me in

""Sixty-one percent said they were extremely proud to be Americans; another 28 percent said they were very proud. Seven percent answered 'moderately,' 2 percent said 'only a little,' and 1 percent answered 'not at all.'""

either they had next to no democrats in the poll, or more than likely they all LIED.

to describe the Leftists. There is no "progress" in any of their shrieking. They are no more for progress than they are for "democracy" (implied by the "Democrat" in their party title)

Therefore, we should all be referring to them as Leftists. This describes their political slant and affords them the disrespect that they deserve.

Freedom of Religion NOT Freedom from Religion

The CNN poll mentions absolutely nothing about a progressive agenda.

Are you suggesting that only 3% of those polled agree with positions on issues that most would consider to be progressive? Are you suggesting that this 3% correlates with those who are not proud to be americans.

If so, you are correct. It would spell disaster for the progressive agenda. It also would spell disaster for Obama in November (single digits, for sure).

Your logic only falls apart if you allow for the possibility that liberals may actually consider themselves to be patriotic. Your personal view of their patriotism doesn't have any relevence to this survey.

Then you missed it by ilitigant

Progressives have displayed a disdain for Patriotism and have been proud to proclaim themselves as traitors. That aside, my logic is not in fault. The questions had nothing to do with whether a person considered theirself to be a Patriot or not. It has to do with whether they thought the Founding Fathers would like the way the country is now. Of those who (in the second poll question) found little pride in the nation, only progressive, left slant, liberal and communist persons could have fallen into the 3%. Do the math. Don't let the aside distract, but the aside was based in a long history of personal observation from inside the beast.

Vote For the Patriot or The Traitor

"(the survey) has to do with whether they thought the Founding Fathers would like the way the country is now."

Yes. Again, it has nothing to do with opinions on a Progressive Agenda.

You say that "only progressive, left slant, liberal and communist persons could have fallen into the 3%." Even if this is true (and you have presented no evidence that it is), it doesn't mean that ALL progressives fall into the 3%; i.e. 97% of the country is against a Progressive Agenda.

Is this really what you are suggesting?

I've done the math, and yours makes no sense.
