Abmadinejad At War With Israel And The World

The U.N.'s chief nuclear inspector, Mohamed El-Baradei, recently told Al-Arabiya television that Iran could have a nuclear weapon in as little as six months. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in possession of nuclear weapons is not a pretty picture I want to think about. Ahmadinejad's particular form of radical Islam actually welcomes an apocalyptic war with the world. He believes in an Islamic messiah. His messiah is the Mahdi or 12th Imam. This messiah comes to rid the world of infidels after a cataclysmic confrontation with the West.

Ahmadinejad wants to visit a second Holocaust upon the Jews even while denying that the first Holocaust ever took place. He is directly responsible for the deaths of many American troops in Iraq. His regime sponsors many Hezbollah terrorist sleeper cells in North America, the UK, and continental Europe. Ahmadinejad, even less than Hitler, is not really interested in diplomatic, mutually agreeable solutions.

Israel's recent military exercise involving more than 100 aircraft indicates the level of seriousness with which Israeli leaders are taking the growing threat inside Iran. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with nuclear weapons at his fingertips is simply unacceptable to the security of Israel and the western democracies. Iran is currently deploying military forces in such a manner as to be capable of shutting down the Strait of Hormuz through which one-fifth of all the world's oil is transported to other countries.

The doctrine of peace at any price is the overwhelming philosophy of most western governments, including our own. Ahmadinejad knows this and will not be bluffed by political rhetoric and threats to cut business ties. The Israelis seem to understand this better than our Congressional leadership. If the west cannot unite to force the Iranian government to see the error of its ways, then I believe Israel will attack Iran soon. Israel cannot afford to wait much longer while the missiles of war are being turned toward the Israeli border. The next blast of light and fire may be the Middle East going up in flames.

Israel has a very weak government, which makes their actions more unpredictable and less under our control, as their actions will be driven more by internal political factors that U.S. advice.

As for the U.S., Bush faces divided counsel, with the State Department against military action, the Defense Department divided, and our intelligence services not under control. It would be a hard sell for Bush to attack Iran (barring a blatant causus belli on Iran's part, which they are trying to avoid) when his administration officials won't be able to speak with a unified voice against the inevitable press and Congressional criticism.

And Rightly So!
