Disgusting Sexism from the Democrats- UPDATED

And They Beat Us Up for Hypocrisy?

Folks, I can’t believe the sexism that’s spewing out from the Democrats on the matter of Trig Palin. It’s not just the garbage about how a woman who is the mother of a special-needs child shouldn’t try to have a successful career at the same time. On top of that, the insane, offensive and obviously untrue story about Trig being the son of Governor Palin’s 17-year-old daughter Bristol is also refusing to die down.

I’ve already heard stories that the Obama campaign is very surreptitiously feeding all of this calumny. I would like all of you to help us to track down whether or not this is true.

The garbage started at DailyKos, naturally, where there have been at least 1800 comments so far. But it’s been picked up in press reports far and wide, possibly at the urging of Obama campaign staffers. I’d encourage all of you to dig into the biographies of the Kos and other commenters, to find their links to the Obama campaign, and post them here.

I know that all Republicans want to wage this campaign on substantive grounds. But if the Democrats are going to punch us below the belt with easily-refuted lies, then I have no problem at all with calling them on it every single day from now till the election.

Especially when they’re hypocritically violating every shred of the respect for women and women’s rights that we Republicans fully accepted long ago. The Democrats have now proven that they are the Party of Lies, not the Party of Respect for Women.

After all, Obama’s whole campaign started off as “new politics,” and now is all about “kicking the bums out.” Americans need to understand that the bums pursuing the old politics of sexism and personal destruction are all Democrats.

UPDATE: Reuters is reporting that a senior McCain campaign official has announced that Bristol Palin indeed is five months pregnant, and will marry the father of her child. Obviously this is the business of no one but the Palin family, but the McCain poople (who knew about the pregnancy) rightly felt it was important to refute the ridiculous claims being made about Trig Palin, who is Bristol’s brother, not her son.

To the Obama campaign: All right, people, bring it on. You tried and failed to say that Sarah Palin lied about her special-needs child. Now that the truth is out, would you like to try making the case that Sarah Palin is of a character not suited for high office because her daughter will have a child, and that her family will provide for the child in a loving and understanding way?

Or perhaps, to use the words of Barack Obama, you’d like us to believe that Bristol Palin is being punished?

Dig Maureen Dowd

Did you take a look at the NYT yesterday? Here’s a tidbit from Maureen Dowd. Sickening.

Bitter much?

That was my first thought.

The lefties can not forgive Sarah Palin for not aborting Trig.

The nerve of her.

There is a theme in Christian tradition that the deepest, toastiest regions of hell are reserved for purveyors of false witness.

Since the left seems to have gotten religion by imaging Hurricane Gustav as God’s endorsement of The One, they better start thinking about this. Yahweh doesn’t LIKE breaches of that commandment.

I DEMAND JUSTICE`for the exploitation of an innocent teenager BRISTOL!

She represents all American teenagers who are being exploited by the Obama Campaign just to get votes.

These people are painting all American teenage girls as immoral!

With the announcement of Bristol's pregnancy

and intention to marry the father, the left will attempt to portray S. Palin as a monster who coerces her daughter into following outdated traditions. Therefore it is imperative that we draw out what the left is saying subversively in blogs and diaries, and bring it in the light of day for the public and press to compare and decide who the monsters really are. I hope Bristol is being shielded from this somehow, but it is about to get nasty from the left.

Bringing it to light will help marginalize the radical world view behind the attacks; and we can hope the general public, who is far more conservative than the media realizes, will increase their support for Gov Palin in the end.

help us deal with the issue of Bristol’s pregnancy. Releasing that story in the context of refuting this story is smart.

Not a big issue since McCain knew about it. In fact it will be a plus as a demonstration of how to deal with an unwanted pregnancy. My admiration for Sarah and Todd only grows as I watch how they have dealt with life.

The Dems are going to have to be careful how they handle this. I predict…silence.

The nutroots, that’s another story. But aren’t they pretty much in favor of teenaged sex?

I'm a Democrat, I'm saying that now.

Moriah (Diary) Monday, September 1st at 1:23PM EST (link)

I am a liberal pacifist feminist tree-hugging hippiechick who wanted Hillary Clinton but is going to vote for Obama.

When I saw the swirl of rumors start up about Sarah Palin, I posted on a Democratic board and said what I thought.

Which was that as a person who believes in equal pay for equal work, no discrimination against working mothers or working soon-to-be mothers, the idea that woman can have a family and have a job and do well at both, I cannot be hypocritical about Sarah Palin’s choice to accept the nomination because she has a four month old boy with Down’s Syndrome. (I have not heard Sarah advocate the Dr. Laura “I am my kid’s mom” attitude, so I can’t call HER a hypocrite on that either.)

I also said that I personally believed that perpetuating the rumor that Trig is actually Bristol’s child without any evidence aside from circumstantial and talk was as low, if not lower, than suggesting with no evidence that Michelle Obama went on a “whitey” rant or that Barack is a Muslim despite him saying he is not. Because it involved not the candidates’s wife who is at least an adult, but that it involved the candidate’s daughter, who did not choose to run for election and so did not open herself up to public scrutiny. Not to mention so farfetched that it reminded me of a VC Andrews novel.

Now it looks like the only part of the rumor that was at all true is that Bristol Palin did get pregnant — but is still pregnant and Trig could not physically be her child at all.

There are many issues that I don’t agree with Palin about.

I am pro-choice. I respect both Sarah and Bristol’s choices to keep their children and both choices show that they have an enormous amount of personal strength, courage, and faith in what they believe is right. I think women should have the right to make their own choices, however. Sarah is pro-life even in the cases of rape or incest — when a person did not even choose to risk pregnancy.

It is my understanding that Palin is also for abstinence-only education and is against gay rights. I just don’t agree on either.

And those are just my disagreements with Palin, not even the ones I have with McCain.

So I have plenty of reason not to vote for the ticket, and much better things to discuss than ludicrous rumors or sexist statements when saying why I won’t vote for her.

I am sorry that some of my fellow Democrats decided to smear a candidate’s daughter in such a vile fashion — although now that it has been acknowledged that Bristol is five months pregnant at this time, I do feel it is reasonable to ask Sarah if she actually does support abstinence-only sex education as the way to prevent teen pregnancy.

And every rumor-monger should apologize to not only Sarah and Bristol, but the rest of the Democrats who they made look bad.

Have a good Convention, all!

Blessings,

Moriah

Thank you

for your honesty and intellectual integrity. If more on your side were like you, maybe we could have conversations instead of all-out battles.

I respect your position

That’s speaking from a position of integrity. Thank you for sharing here – and I mean that sincerely.

Opportunity

buckeye (Diary) Monday, September 1st at 2:40PM EST (link)

The same “feminists” that circled the wagons for Clinton and his treatment of women are now going to attack Palin in the most vicious manner. There is such an opportunity for the Republicans to call the Dems out on the carpet on all this stuff and expose them as the hypocrites they are once and for all.

Palin’s speech should take no prisoners. As an accomplished leader, wife and mother she should take the Democrats to task for hating her because she’s everything they wish the were but aren’t, particularly accomplished reformers and proven leaders.

This overt sexism and racism

peg_c (Diary) Monday, September 1st at 5:14PM EST (link)

of liberals and the Left chased me right out of the Dem party after 28 years. No one who is a recovered Democrat is at all surprised by this spewing of putrid smears and disgusting innuendo and outright accusations. This is liberal policy at its most basic and base.

There is a blog post somewhere identifying IP addresses involved in promoting the worst of the smears. They lead directly back to one of Obama’s active sites (Fight the Smears) that, rather than defending against smears is actively generating them via the obscenity-laced blogs on the Left. The research is pretty damning. He won’t fire anybody. Obama takes the high road publicly while riding the lowest roads privately. This will not end well (for him).

…are more like the person who posted above, in that while they are firmly committed to their own point of view and can’t see the point of pro-life, pro-abstinence etc, they are more humane than their political class.

The same people who call others haters are known to dehumanize people all the time. This is what they’ll be doing with Sarah Palin and her family. By the time they are done S. Palin will be so “evil” to them that not one of them would save her from drowning. The next Cheney, right? Isn’t that what was said before they ever knew who the nominee would be?

Unfortunately for them it’s bursting the Obamabubble. He’s not so saintly right now because of his supporters. They do not change for any messiah, I mean candidate, and are willing to bash minorities, homosexuals, women, children, anyone who gets in their way. There are self-righteous hard-hearted people everywhere, even in the democratic party.
