About that “reconciliation” bill…

It’s been dropped quicker than an Obama campaign promise. It looks like he might sign the ObamaCare bill before the Senate even starts talking about the “sidecar”.

Obama will travel to Iowa City, Iowa on Thursday, the White House said, as he now turns to seeing a companion bill through the Senate and selling the health care overhaul’s benefits on behalf of House members who cast risky votes. It is most likely that he will sign the bill on Tuesday, but plans are not yet final, said a senior administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an as-yet-unannounced strategy.

So they have to put a strategy in place as to when to sign this bill? Meanwhile there is no strategy on jobs, Gitmo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, etc.

To me, “consensus” seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects … There are still people in my party who believe in “consensus” politics. I regard them as Quislings, as traitors … I mean it. — Margaret Thatcher
