The lefties are furious as Lieberman gets his wish?

Or at least that how this appears to be shaping up, according to reports.

Kos is tweeting that Reid needs to go, this bill needs be killed, he wonders if we will ever see Democrats control Congress, Lieberman is killing 40K people a year, etc. They are going completely ape at dkos.

Some of that is pretty comedic, but it looks like 60 votes may be on the way. :-(

No bill (9+ / 0-)
is better than this.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

Shot me in the head, (metaphorically) please (43+ / 0-)
I f***ing give up. I just can’t do this any more.

Seriously, what the hell have we been busting our asses for over the last decade??

For this?

Forced insurance buy-in wind-fall for the insurance companies and nothing for the little guy?

What a monumental FAIL.

Firedoglake the other night and they were about the same. They were extremely upset about not being able to reimport cheap drugs, about the caps that Reid had put in, and about the cost of the thing.

They told us it would all be free!!!!!!!

It is pretty amusing - they act as if...

bk (Diary) Monday, December 14th at 9:20PM EST (link)

we had President Reagan, VP Cheney, Speaker Gingrich, Majority leader Lott, and a 75/25 ratio of R to D in each chamber.

I can see them trying to tell the average person next year that the overwhelmingly Democratic Congress is a bunch of right-wing radicals, and we need to elect a waaaaaay more “progressive” set of folks to serve us in DC. That should work almost as well as blaming everything on Bush 10 next summer and fall.

Yes, bk, one of the comments I just read at

janis (Diary) Monday, December 14th at 9:44PM EST (link)

Kos said that they would have “massive” support if they just had leadership that would do what they promised when Obama was campaigning.

Yeah, that’s the problem. If they do any MORE of what Obama promised, their support will be down around +6.

Both parties have internal wars going on

But the liberal Democrats are seriously out of step with the mood of the country. It’s almost like they’re in another world.

Democrats are all in. They're going through with it. Even if it kills them.

Of course, going forward has turned out to be harder than many Democrats thought. And now, with various proposals lying wrecked along the road, the true believers are practicing what the strategist calls “principled damage control.”

But still, does it make sense? In the end, perhaps the most compelling explanation for Democratic behavior is that they are simply in too deep to do anything else. “Once you’ve gone this far, what is the cost of failure?” asks the strategist.

At that point — Republicans will love this — he compared congressional Democrats with robbers who have passed the point of no return in deciding to hold up a bank. Whatever they do, they’re guilty of something. “They’re in the bank, they’ve got their guns out. They can run outside with no money, or they can stick it out, go through the gunfight, and get away with the money.”

That’s it. Democrats are all in. They’re going through with it. Even if it kills them.

Because they're playing the long game....

Big moves upfield when possible, then hold position.

Do you think the hundred-plus new bureaucracies created by health care reform are going to go away, even if the Repubs run the board in 2010?

There are still enough Repub nitwits who believe they can, Hastert-style, buy their way to victory by keeping these cancerous organs of government alive.

Radical chemo is what’s needed.
