Apparently Obama’s skyrocketing poll numbers would have carried Deeds through, if only he’d spent more time worshipping at the feet of the holy trinity: Obama, Emanuel, and Axelrod. They will ensure that everyone knows the loss will be due to Deeds and Deeds alone, and of course in no way reflects on Obama.
Sensing that victory in the race for Virginia governor is slipping away, Democrats at the national level are laying the groundwork to blame a loss in a key swing state on a weak candidate who ran a poor campaign that failed to fully embrace President Obama until days before the election.
Multiple WH sources are involved in smearing Deeds.
A senior administration official said Deeds badly erred on several fronts, including not doing a better job of coordinating with the White House….
A second administration official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “Obama, Kaine and others had drawn a road map to victory in Virginia. Deeds chose another path.”
The second page of the article talks about how Deeds tried but failed to woo BET’s Sheila Johnson to endorse him – she ended up endorsing McDonnell mainly because of union-related issues. He tried to offset that by getting an endorsement from Doug Wilder. An Obama staffer even joined in and spent hours trying to convince Wilder to endorse Deeds – all to no avail, as he said he’s sitting this one out.

I didn't think anyone could run a worse campaign than McCain

Deeds was chosen by the Democrats, over McAuliffe and Moran, because he didn’t have as much baggage as McAluffe or Moran. What they apparently failed to see, was that Deeds is his own worst enemy. Deeds was already on record bragging about getting the most pork. You know when a candidate publically states that he will raise taxes, for anything, while a candidate, he is in for a world of hurt, especially with the current economic mess. Then he states publically that August was a bad month for Democrats, because of the Stimulus Bill, and all of the spending that Democrats were doing in Washington. Do ya think Obama and his co-presidents Axelrod and Emmanuel would be disgusted with him? I wonder if the big O will still come to VA to stump for him next week, only a week away from the election. Deeds cringed the last time he was here.

The Obama spin doctors have decided that grandpa Deeds should be given some pain medication and be forced to die. Why spend political capital on a terminal case, they figure. “If only you had come to see us sooner”, they lament.
