I’ll take the suggestion below to call this an open thread since the info I posted under “Obama/Obamacare numbers continue to plummet” is really too short to be a decent diary.
But I’ll kick it off with what I had written under the original title…
Today the AP released a summary of a poll taken last week.
Overall disapproval of Obama jumped from 42% to 49% over the past month.
Disapproval on his handling of health care skyrocketed from 43% to 52%.
Will a speech tonight that leaves Chris Matthews tingling in both legs turn this around? I doubt it.

Can someone create a HC speech Open Thread?

Personally, I could sure use an open thread right now.

Sorry - the article was very short
bk (Diary) Wednesday, September 9th at 12:59PM EST (link)and pretty self-evident and certainly timely. There’s not a lot to add to it, though perhaps it doesn’t make sense to post as a diary. Maybe it’s more like a redhot, but the average person here can’t post those can we?
No, we can't.
NightTwister (Diary) Wednesday, September 9th at 1:09PM EST (link)I used to be able to, but it was never restored after they got it working again for non-contributors.
You could always change the title here and make this the Open Thread!

Good idea! Done.

CJB68 Thursday, September 10th at 6:45AM EST (link)It looks like a GOP representative made an outburst during part of the speech. Then he apologized. It makes me wonder… just how short the fuse is on our side right now.
It reminds me of a recent general meeting with a plant manager where I work. The manager was apparently a big Obama supporter, so she made comments during her speech to the effect of “Do it for Obama!”. Not much of anything that I’d call a positive response followed, but no loud catcalls. I was thinking, “Do it for our customer, not the President. Is he buying those products we’re working on?”
Afterwards, I mentioned this in a discussion with my father and he reminded me that there are times and places where holding your tongue is a batter course of action, such as being on the floor of the place where you work at while a manager is speaking. I suppose the representative couldn’t hold it in any longer. It’s not like he can’t vote “No” on the bill when it comes to his seat. It’s the best that the Republicans can do now; they simply lack the numbers needed to kill the bill.
The best we can hope for is that more blue-dog Democtrats than not are going to be remembering what their constituents said and side with the Republicans in killing this thing. Unfortunately, the track record on this sort of thing happening is virtually nil.
