The Democrat Party says “thanks!” to the Delaware GOP [closed]

[G'bye. You want to talk up Democrats? Do it at Daily Kos. Not here. – NS]

The Delaware primary is a case of a battle won and a war lost.  Pollster.com:

Public Policy Polling (PPP) fielded a general election survey in Delaware over the weekend that they plan to release today, though they teased results yesterday that imply an even bigger Coons lead. They reported Coons “polls 26 points better” against O’Donnell than against Castle, that O’Donnell’s personal rating is 29% favorable, 50% unfavorable and that only 31% of Delware’s voters think she is “fit to hold office.”

The 50% unfavorable number is key.  It is extremely unlikely that O’Donnell will win in the general, which means that it will be even more extremely unlikely that the GOP will regain the majority in the Senate.  Thanks to Palin, Levin, Hannity et al., the party has just shot itself in the foot.  Congrats, guys.  You just let the ideologically purer become the enemy of the good.

I guess the O'Donnell mourning period has been extended

I’m not sure how much longer the “she can’t win” crowd will be able to continue with their crying. She won. She is the Republican nominee for the Senate seat in DE. Once someone is the candidate, no matter who it is, it is site policy to get behind the candidate, or, do no harm to that candidate by posting these kinds of defeatist diaries. If you can’t or won’t support her, allow others that are willing to to take the microphone.

Ridiculous

Bird_Dog (Diary) Wednesday, September 15th at 10:52AM EST (link)

Facts like “50% unfavorable” matter, and when to make a post-mortem than 12 hours after the mortem.

If it were GUARENTEED she'd lose the General, II would have still supported her

RINOS must be defeated. And that means even if it costs the Republicans a seat. The point has been made that NO RINO is safe in ANY primary. No matter how Liberal the state, no matter how politically connected the RINO.

The argument that O’Donnell somehow cost the GOP the senate is BS. She took 35% of the vote vs Biden, DE’s favorite son in a landslide Dem year. You think theres NO WAY she can make up 15 pts in a big Repub year? And even if see loses so what? You’re acting as if the Republicans could pass any major conservative legislation anyway as long as Obamas got to sign it.

These arguments are ridiculous…. Republicans were suppose to nominate Mike Castle, whose support they may not get in the senate caucus, to have a majority that would be impotent?

The senate seat is secondary to the defeat of a RINO. The primary goal has been reached ….. ending Mike Castles political career..

Hey Castle, you still think that Cap and Trade Vote was a good idea? Dummy…

Not what they expected ...

catt (Diary) Wednesday, September 15th at 12:13PM EST (link)

Her nomination alone has sent shock waves through the ranks of the RINO enablers.

Rove’s first response was just what you’d expect from someone who wanted to preserve the status quo, RINOcerocity and all. But more importantly it was obvious that *he expected to get away with saying it*. Didn’t even stop to consider any other possibility. Why? Because it’s always worked in the past.

Look at the responses Rove is getting today. Not what he expected.

Riehl goes so far as to say that Fox should suspend Rove. And points to some possible back-room shenanigans by Rove trying to shove O’Donnell aside so Castle would have a free pass.
http://www.riehlworldview.com/carnivorous_conservative

The NRSC said right away that they wouldn’t be funding O’Donnell. Obviously they expected to get away with treating her that way. Didn’t give it a second thought.

Look at the reaction they got today. Not what they expected.

Took them less than 24 hours to reverse that decision, too.

If Castle had gotten the nomination then all the RINO enablers would have woken up today feeling vindicated. Powerful. Fired up.

What are they feeling this morning? Not what they expected.

If O’Donnell is a flawed candidate that just cranks up the volume on the message to the RINO enablers. How badly do the people want to get rid of RINOs? *That* badly. Yes, *that* badly.

It’s not what they expected to be hearing today.

Maybe if the volume is loud enough, they’ll be forced to listen.

Your guy lost a Republican primary to someone who

eburke (Diary) Wednesday, September 15th at 12:50PM EST (link)

was portrayed as the worst, most unqualified candidate in the history of mankind.

This site is about conservative in the primary, Republican in the general. That means I get to support Kirk and McCain, and you get to support O’Donnell.

Put on your big-boy (or girl) pants and get over it.

And must be exposed as such.

Coons and Obama have much in common.

They love Marxism.

They love Kenya.

They love to raise taxes.

New Castle County Executive Chris Coons : A Rich Little Tax Raising Democrat

Coons Seeks 25% Property Tax Hike
The News-Journal March 18, 2009

News that Democrat Chris Coons intends to jack up property taxes on us all to make his political accommodations is no surprise. He is a personally very-rich Democrat, freshly-re-elected, making a tidy 6-figure paycheck on the public’s backs while trying to carve himself out an incumbency career in Delaware politics.

Property taxes are but pocket change to someone as wealthy as Coons. Coons lives at 2301 Delaware Avenue in a nearly-4200 square foot, 6-bedroom, 4-bath stone mansion that sits on nearly half an acre of land in the high-dollar Highlands neighborhood in Wilmington.

http://www.nccde.org/parcel/Details/Default.aspx?ParcelKey=155715

To give you a sense of the value, the property sold in 1981 for $225,000.00. Of course, what Coons paid for it is masked by a deed that cleverly states a purely-nominal sale price of $ 10.

SWEENEY THOMAS P & RITA J A116 346 N N 9/1/1981 $225,000.00

TPS REALTY LLC 20050202 0012099 N N 2/1/2005 $10.00

COONS CHRISTOPHER A & ANN M 20070228 0019307 Y N 2/28/2007 $10.00

Shame on you, Mr. Coons. While you have talked a good game about cutting here and there (with paltry personnel cost reductions a measly 2%) it is obvious you are more interested in servicing the bloat you and your Democrat party have made of county government, flowing out of the same government-centric mind that drives the lard-laden Wilmington patronage government racket.

You are clearly capitulating to the organized labor fatasses who dominate the Democrat party, who you need for any political future in it, and who are more than happy to exploit higher property taxes, holding hostage most peoples’ biggest life investment : our homes, in order to continue theirs and your cozy ride on the public gravy train.

Awwwww, Coon & Obama in an embrace.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

Honestly, you "moderates" have proven yourself losers ...

Martin Knight (Diary) Wednesday, September 15th at 11:14AM EST (link)

… for the past four years. Almost every single one of your bright lights have proven to be invertebrates and worse yet, the increased electability that you guys tout as the result of their lack of spine has proven to be nothing more than wishful thinking.

Now, I supported Castle – strictly because of the lame duck session – I had no illusions that afterwards he’d not be the Democrats’ go-to-guy for “Bipartisan” cover.

Yet he lost – if he can’t convince Republicans to vote for him what does that say about his electability?

So, Do You Or Do You Not Support The GOP Candidate?

How did O’Donnell improve our chances of regaining the majority in the Senate? The moderate choice would have done so. Castle was projected to be an easy winner in the general. There aren’t enough conservatives and TPers in DE to tip the scales for O’Donnell, not with a 50% unfavorable.

Answering a question with a question is not an answer to the question.

To be more direct, a moderate choice in DE would given us a chance to regain the majority, which is a big deal because it puts the GOP in charge of all committees and is therefore able to drive the agenda in the Senate. That shot is gone.

Please go away (nt)

You have a candidate here who can win, the question really is whether NRSC Republicans will sink into the MSM morass and stop supporting her now. It’s as simple as that. Man up, fellas.

My feeling is that they should go into afterburner and really stop the slide definitively.
