Anyone know when this “Global Warming” is going to kick in?

I’m freezing my butt off right now.   I’m just wondering if i missed it, or if it’s just hasn’t arrived yet.   Any of you know Al Gore’s number?   And if any of you run into him, please have him send some to New Jersey.

Ha ! UK..... Leftist Climate Change Activists Arrested On Conspiracy Charges.

Ten people were arrested today hours before hundreds of climate change protestors are due to descend on the site of one of Britain’s biggest coal-fired power stations.

Activists from three pressure groups – the Camp for Climate Action, Plane Stupid and Climate Rush – plan to meet at 1pm at Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station near Nottingham, having threatened to break into the site and close it down.

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said seven men and three women had been arrested earlier this morning on suspicion of conspiracy to commit aggravated trespass.

One of the best comments at the article page is from a gent named David Michael: “I’ll bet this is Rent-a-Crowd at work again. Nothing better to do. These are probably the same children of fathers who protested at the closure of the coal mines!!!”

PS…… Mr. Jetson: Next month, I’ll be part of a quite large “Howdy Ho Greeting Party” in honor of The one and only Algore for his speaking engagement down here in South Florida. We will all be “dressed appropriately for the occasion”…. no matter the weather.

Follow-up...... UK Protest: Policeman with head injuries airlifted to hospital.

Many demonstrators protested peacefully at the power station’s main entrance, but police said breakaway groups had assaulted officers and pulled down security fences – with some managing to gain access to the heavily guarded site.

During the course of the day, as numbers at the site grew, a further 11 people were arrested for various offences, including conspiracy to commit aggravated trespass, aggravated trespass and criminal damage.

We had great weather last week and early this week. Now it’s COLD and WET.

Oh Al Gore, where are you when we need you most?

1-21-09 – We are so screwed… Wait… maybe not just yet.

Tennessee ain't so hot this week either.

September, one of our traditionally driest months, netted us at least 11+ inches of rain. I think the average is one inch. October is looking to be a close contender as we’ve had rain every day this week and most of us haven’t seen the sun since last weekend. It’s now in the 40′s at a time of the year when the average high temp is in the 70′s. Frost and freeze warnings are in the forecast for tomorrow night, I believe.

Fine by me. It’s too wet and muddy to keep mowing the grass, but thanks to the constant precip, the stuff keeps growing. At least I think it’s grass. Could be really thick mildew at this point.

And this, so, so much for getting in some fishing:

SOUTHERN LYNN CANAL-
400 AM AKDT SAT OCT 17 2009

.TODAY…SE WIND 20 KT IN THE MORNING BECOMING N 10 KT. SEAS 4 FT
SUBSIDING TO 2 FT IN THE AFTERNOON. RAIN.
.TONIGHT…N WIND 10 KT. SEAS 2 FT OR LESS. RAIN.
.SUN…N WIND 10 KT. SEAS 2 FT OR LESS. RAIN.
.SUN NIGHT…N WIND 10 KT. SEAS 2 FT OR LESS. RAIN.
.MON…N WIND 15 KT. SEAS 3 FT.
.TUE…N WIND 25 KT. SEAS 5 FT.
.WED…N WIND 25 KT. SEAS 5 FT.

Two or three foot seas are routine. Depending on the period, four or five foot seas can either just be kind of a rollercoaster or they can beat your fillings out. With a 25KT wind driving them to five feet, my money says short, sharp, and bone-jarring. ‘Course, the wind and rain with temps in the forties ain’t fun either, but if you’re dressed for it and there’s some heat on the boat, it’s OK.

Nope, not Southern Comfort..........

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Saturday, October 17th at 4:18PM EST (link)

Jeremiah Weed’s Southern Style Sweet Tea, with some fresh Key Lime juice and ice cubes….. pop it all in a blender and let ‘er rip.

Ribs with my own BBQ sauce, grilled corn, picked-today tomatoes, two flat panel TV’s on my deck overlooking the golf course and a nice supply of the above-mentioned adult beverage…..

Hell of a way to watch The Yankees and the race tonight…… Jeremiah Weed is on the 26 car tonight in Charlotte.

Cheap white wine and watching it rain here, Kenny.

SWMBO is at Home Depot taking a class from some gay guy on how to do tile which really means how to supervise me doing tile. She’ll come home with a honey-do list three days long, so I’m going to harrump and go watch the race in a bar somewhere. She’s been watching cooking shows constantly, so only God knows what kind of wierd stuff she’ll dish up for dinner. Lunch is catch as catch can but I’m leaning towards a Bloody Mary and some Cheetos.

Bloody Mary’s and Cheetos…… mmm mmm mmm.
All hail the Cheetos…… mmm mmm mmm.

Art, here’s the perfect out: You can’t do tile now….. Too much global warming for the base mud and grout to set and cure properly.

58 Degrees N. Lat. is South of some places.

The Arctic Circle is 66N, Fairbanks is 64N, Anchorage is 61N, so, yeah, it passes for Southern Comfort in Alaska.

Though it looks on a map like Anchorage is quite a bit further north than Juneau, it’s actually only about a hundred miles north, but over 400 miles west; just one of those things about Mercator Projection maps and the way they distort the northern lattitudes. Anchorage is somewhat colder because it has a more continental climate whereas Juneau’s climate is more maritime with the Pacific moderating the temperature swings.
