Like the title says, “What the Hell is wrong with my family?”
I’m the political one in my family, all the others to me just don’t give a damn.
I have been active in politics since I was 12 years old. I ran Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign at my ELEMENTARY school. I have been active in other real campaigns, and even had a stint working for the Georgia Republican Party.
Though I must confess, since I have become disabled, my physical political activities have dropped to next to nothing. However, since I got a computer, and got online, I have took off into the world of cyber-politics. RedState, Glenn Beck and the 9/12 Project, Don’t Tread On Us. I have started feeling like I was finally coming back to life.
Every time I try to convince my family about the evils of partisan politics, our country’s march to socialism, and other important issues, they brush me off, telling me “its not important to my life.”
Well, when they wake up and see the freedoms they take for granted have been taken away one by one, I’m sure they’ll say “we never saw it coming.” BUT THEY DID! I TRIED TO TELL YOU!
I have made friends over politics, lost friends over politics. I have debated, argued, and even once come to blows. This matters to me.
So, family dear, if you expect me to take an interest in your life and listen to your views, at least have the common courtesy to at least listen to mine.

I'd say your family is pretty normal
bcb1 (Diary) Thursday, June 18th at 7:25AM EST (link)I don’t think it’s the least bit unusual for many…if not most folks to have no interest (or only a passing interest) in politics. It’s just not that important to a lot of people. Not saying that’s good or bad; it’s just the way it is.
I’m a distance runner and a scuba diver. Those things are extrememly important to me; and I can’t imagine my life without them, but I realize that to most people, they aren’t the least bit important. I could proselytize all day long about the benefits of running; but it’s useless if it falls on deaf ears. Why bore people with stuff they don’t want to hear?
As difficult as it is to imagine, not everyone in the world…or even everyone in your own family has the same passions as you. That doesn’t make your family bad; it makes them pretty much like every other family in the world.
my grandma listened to Rush
mom2oneson (Diary) Thursday, June 18th at 9:55AM EST (link)I still remember sitting with her on her steps out back and listening to him on the radio. I was not interested but everyone loves being with grandma! It wasn’t until I got here on RS that I understood even the basics of how gov works though but I did know dem politican=wacky from being around her. The other thing she watched were televangelist that aren’t politician talk shows but I remember the warnings and stuff they gave about liberal things like Pat Robertson and John Haggee. I specifically remember them talking about court things and stuff that were being used against Christians and Christian organizations.
