As a 26 year-old woman (to steal a line of Meghan’s from her appearance on This Week this past Sunday), I think that Meghan McCain is making a mockery of anyone that claims to be a young Republican every time she opens her mouth. Famous merely for being famous, repeatedly inserting foot-in-mouth, and constantly prefacing her comments with her age in an attempt to cover her tracks in case they are an utter failure, I often have a hard time believing two things: 1) that she and I are the same age, and 2) that she graduated from Columbia.
First things first: I was shocked when I caught wind of the news that she was going to participate on the round table on This Week. I began to imagine potential quotes and giggled to myself at the ridiculousness of them. Nothing could have prepared me for not only what she would have the nerve to say during her appearance, but what she would say the day after. Having been blocked for nearly a year by Ms. McCain on Twitter for standing up for CPAC when she needlessly attacked the conference without knowing any of the facts related to the Sorba incident, I don’t see the glorious things she says online unless someone else passes it along. Today, this came up in my Twitter feed and I about fell out of my chair. Meghan McCain had the nerve to attack Christine O’Donnell on this week claiming she was making a mockery of running for office because she has “no real history, no real success in any kind of business”, and then claim that the backlash that came as a result of this absurd statement from someone with no real history and no success in any kind of business is because of the size of her chest? My message to Meghan: grow up.
My personal favorite quote from her appearance on This Week from the New York Times best-selling author, was this special gem: “no matter how many lack of experience you have”. Should I not criticize your atrocious grammar because you are larger than an A-cup? Can anyone say anything they want to on television about a Senatorial candidate that is dripping with irony and no one be allowed to say something about it because your bra is slightly larger than others? The reality is that this is deflection, and no Meghan, no one is falling for it. It is transparent, it is childish, and it gets you nowhere. Running around claiming to be a Republican while bashing the entire movement and calling us all extremists and claiming that you are the only one who hold the keys to the right Republican platform is a joke. I am going to try to help you right now and let you in on the worst kept secret around: the left is using you.
There is a certain kind of Republican that the left-leaning media loves: the kind that advocates democratic causes, continually slams the Republican party and insults Republican voters. It gives them a chance to laugh and nod along while a Republican attacks their own, and makes their heart swell with excitement at the prospect that the party would not survive if there were more like you. Trouble is, those are your only allies when you play the game that way. The Republican party is a big tent. The biggest tent there is, actually. Why, you ask? Because when you advocate the concept of liberty and freedom for all people and fight to help people of all economic classes to keep more of their own money, you suddenly can fit a lot of people under your tent. In fact, you can fit all people. This is a free country last time I checked, and Christine O’Donnell has as much the right to exercise her freedom to run for office as a 26 year-old with no real history and no success in business can claim the title of best-selling author and political pundit.
None of this has anything to do with what you are wearing, what your bra size is, or even who your father is. The reality is that you speak before you think, you let the left use you (which is why they keep you around), and blame your lack of knowledge on pretty much every topic on your age. As someone who is the same age as you, I beg you to own your comments, think before you speak and choose your television appearances wisely. Also, be humble and admit when you have made a giant mistake. If you had seen the irony in your statement about Christine O’Donnell and apologized, all would be fine and forgiven. Until then, enjoy the Republican tent which is big enough that it includes people who constantly insult it and despise nearly everything it stands for.

According to the final list of elected precinct committeemen for Maricopa County, AZ, within which Phoenix sits, no one named Meghan McCain became an elected precinct committeeman. So, notwithstanding all her inane nonsense, she has absolutely no right to vote in ANY internal Party leadership elections. Thank goodness.

We’ve no shortage of folks wearing the GOP banner who believe – and act upon those beliefs – everything opposed to the right side of life. Ms. McCain doesn’t fall far from the tree in that sense.
They use their pedigree, their words, votes on legislation that wont pass, withhold their votes on legislation that will on nits and pretty much do anything they can do to not support Conservative policies and thought…
….but because they hold up an R next to their name, they are given the benefit of representing the right side of the spectrum.
In another diary, someone suggested that the voters are finally looking beyond words to actions and responding accordingly. That is terrific and long overdue.
