I took a week or so off. Reflected on your umm “comments” and have now decided to respond further. I GET IT about the ‘We Conservatives only support OUR IDEAS’ things. I GET IT! Now, I won’t begin, God forbid, to say which candidate I supported, but to say he was a common sense, southerner, who spoke the CONSERVATIVE TRUTH!!! Smaller Government, less taxes, and National Security PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mind you Moe, No particular candidate in mind, JUST YOUR Conservative IDEALS. So I can ‘assume’ you agree that ANYONE who would VOTE for OUR Conservitive candidate, for ANY ‘ONE’ of those, ……Smaller Government or Less Taxes, or National Security……Should receive WHAT??????????? From YOU????? Nothing????????? If that’s your view………….SAY IT UP FRONT….. I am a CONSERVITIVE!!!!!! Today is my birthday. I have been conservative for the 47yrs I can remember. When I see a potential candidate that takes a different approach and in doing that sticks to conservatives ideals, I say…Take a breath man!!!!! We all want the same things…..more than others…..JUST DON’T! put down comment like you did mine. In the days your comments I read reports from Republican’s much more prominent than you and I who said the same thing I did.

For most who don’t know me, I am a single dad, daughter just getting out of College. We are barely making ends meet. I could certainly benifit from the “Government Offers” but I say, Leave me alone, better days are ahead!!!!!!!!! I have been conservative since I can first remember my dad arguing with the black and white tv news.

You want ‘Debate’ MOE??????? Stop berating contributors and start DEBATING IDEAS!!!!!!! Why don’t we start with the responsibility of OUR National Government???? I suggest it is the following:

Form a more perfect union.
Establish justice.
Insure domestic tranquility.
Provide for the common defense.
Promote the general welfare.
Secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity

Certainly a journey worth taking, no? As you mentioned, 2010 looms large as a transformative election, quite possibly the most important election in our lives considering the stakes that are on the table. We all must keep fighting the good fight so we can tell our children and grandchildren how close we came to losing their heritage.

The popularity factor sure didn’t hurt The One. And he had fewer real-world credentials than Palin.

Some of you guys seem to be turned off by Palin just because she’s popular.

Regarding RS, I love this site and the RS guys for what they are and what they stand for … despite the fact that there had been times when some of them talked like a heartless robot.

Well, that’s what they are and I love them. RS was the first blogsite that I have fallen in love with. And I’m a keeper.

What you see as a negative about the woman, some of us see as admirable achievements. You make a good observation that she defeated Murkowski for some of the same reasons Obama won–folks who would have normally been her opponents supported her early, to their chagrin later when she turned out to be something other than a pushover. (Not exactly a parallel, but indulge me.) I don’t think anybody could go from small-town mayor to bureaucrat to Governor without knowing at least a little about state politics. From a distance, this looks like a good thing.

Sounds like she and Obama must share a similar-sized ego as well. “You CANNOT tell Sarah Palin anything she doesn’t want to hear and it will cost you misery if not your job if you bother her ears with something that doesn’t fit her preconception.” I know from your comments that isn’t a personal experience, but is it at least only second-hand? Just curious.

For anybody who might misunderstand, my comment is not about Sarah Palin, it’s about how different perceptions of her arise.

Whether you like it or not, these people are Republicans, and they’re therefore fair game for commentary about what they say and do. Sometimes this becomes a bit circular, as differences of opinion can go on pretty long, and only time can prove who is right or wrong, or neither or both. As Prof said,

But RedState should not be an elitist site!! We want a big army, we need a big army. If we call Palin fans, especially those who are new and whose opinions are still largely “feelings-based”, names (e.g. Palinbots) and ridicule them, they will leave our site (and likely political activism) for good. If we make fun of the folks who genuinely believe that Obama has not proven his eligibility (and believe me, I’ve met a good number of them, and they are a completely different, and more normal, group than the Paulites) and make cracks about “tinfoil hats”, we will lose them as well. And believe me, every person who leaves RedState feeling put down or unwelcome will let their like-minded friends know how they were treated or how welcoming our site is.

Save the accusations of “bot-tery” for folks who are wrong on facts or who intentionally mislead. When it comes to opinion about what will happen in the future, we are all working with the same equipment, just different backgrounds. Even a wise Latina could see that.

BTW, kudos to the folks here closer to the DC scene. Considering our numbers, what we’ve managed in terms of pushback on carbon taxing, socialist medicine, and card check is amazing.

I’m also a FredHead and a Palin fan and will be watching the next 2 – 3 years very closely. It is extremely likely that if the Republican intelligentsia nominates another McCain type I will not vote in 12 or will go rogue. I am a Rush and Levin conservative but I will never toe the Rino line again. Won’t happen. When push comes to shove, RS will back the Republican candidate no matter who it is. I will not.

I wonder how many others here secretly swear the same.
