“Then They Call You a Whore”: The Systematic Smearing of Nikki Haley, Part III

(Update your bookmarks, my site has a whole new look, feel, and name… it’s now Right Turns Only!  Check it out today!)

Another day, another “Nikki Haley is a whore” rumor. And, yeah, it’s still the misogynistic Will Folks who’s behind the rumor.

Today, former Sanford press secretary and shady blogger Will Folks started a rumor imagined pulled a story out of his feverish imaginations reported—and I use that word loosely—that South Carolinian gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley has had, not one, not two, but three extramarital affairs with South Carolina politicians during her career as a legislator.

If you recall, Folks first pretended that he had an affair with Haley, allegedly “some years in the past,” as he phrased it. After about a week of did-he-didn’t-she, it became the general consensus that no, Folks was just making stuff up.

Then, not knowing when to leave well-enough alone, school-choice lobbyist Larry Marchant came forward with an allegation that he too “had sexual relations with that woman,” to misquote Bill Clinton.

It later came out that Marchant was working as a consultant to then-primary contender Andre Bauer, and that he was a close colleague of the aforementioned Will Folks. Winthrop University political scientist Scott Huffmon summed it up, succinctly stating that:

More names with no more proof is certainly going to make it look like Nikki Haley is under attack. It’s probably going to end up, in the mind of the public, needing a higher level of proof. What we have irrefutable evidence of in South Carolina is political incest.

Well, you’d think that the Anti-Haley Wing of the South Carolina GOP (President and CEO, Sen. Jakie Knotts) would have learned their lesson. Sadly, no.

Today, Ol’ Folksie is trying a third time to spread his nonsense, writing that “numerous lobbyists are relating to FITS a narrative that includes allegations of at least one specific encounter between Haley and S.C. Rep. Thad Viers (R-Myrtle Beach) at a 2006 legislative conference in San Francisco, California.”

He writes, writing about himself in his usual third-person:

Both Viers and Haley attended the conference – which was sponsored by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) – and both were married at the time. Haley is still married, while Viers and his wife have since divorced.

Previously, Haley was accused of having a one-night stand with lobbyist Larry Marchant at a school choice conference in 2008. Prior to that bombshell, blogger Will Folks (our founding editor) admitted under duress to having had what he calls an “inappropriate physical relationship” with Haley in the Spring of 2007.

What? “Confess under duress“? Dude, you’re the one who started that story!

Because I have some semblance of journalistic standards, I contacted the accused party in Folks’ third plea for attention and relevance, South Carolina State Representative Thad Viers, before spouting off my mouth. When asked if he had any comment on this story, he had this to say:

It’s completely and totally untrue! It’s really not even worth commenting on… Not even a story. I can’t say as to why [people would start this rumor]… who knows? Attention? Because the media will run with [the] story first and ask questions later? I really don’t know. People make stuff up all the time. I mean, look at the sources… unnamed [lobbyists]? Really?

As noted elsewhere, Folks is a noted misogynist. In 2005, he pled guilty to criminal domestic abuse in 2005, for shoving his girlfriend into furniture during an argument. In 2008, he cyber-stalked noted conservative columnist Ashley Herzog—who’s also my best friend and fellow Ohio University alum—hacked into a private photo account, and uploaded her private pictures to the Internet. He posted pictures of her, calling her a ““20-something blonde Republican [wearing] green eye shadow, black lace tops, pink dirty nothings and too much blush”.

A year later, Folks went on to write about how her pictures made him want to “pull wood”—which is to say, he fantasized about her while… masturbating. Yeaaaaah.

He also wrote about how he wanted to have sex with her, writing:

Oh alright we’ll admit it, Ashley Herzog could be doing pretty much anything and it would still be hot. Like getting caught in flagrante delicto with our founding editor, for example.

When he wasn’t stalking college Republican co-eds, Folks was fantasizing about beating up Nikki Haley. Ha ha, joking about beating up women is fun!

I fully expect feminists to start speaking up and defending Haley (as well as other strong, conservative women) against these coordinated attacks from within and without any day now. Annnnnnnny day now…
