They are leftists plain and simple. Unfortunately, in order to fill the seats on Sunday, they are cherry picking verses of scripture and leaving out the rest. The rise of liberal mega-churches (such as the Emergent) as well as some mainstream Protestant denominations (the ELCA and Episcopal churches come immediately to mind) are also adding to this. 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. James 3:1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. I for one am completely fed up with the “religious left”.
