A Lying and Deceiving CIA Is No Big Deal to Congress

So there will be no hearings on the lies the CIA told to Nancy Pelosi?

Let’s see, either Pelosi is lying or the CIA was.  The Democrats say they have confidence in Pelosi so they must be saying that the CIA is lying.  Isn’t THAT a BIG DEAL??

Not to the Democrats evidently.  A lying CIA is OK.

The real story is that the three-legged stool the Democrats depend upon is OK with it.  These are the ideologically pure, the ignorant and the gullible.

“We cannot have a community that operates outside the law and covers up what it does and lies to Congress.”

This was said by Rep. Peter Hoekstra (Republican) about an incident where a plane carrying missionaries was shot down.

John Boner recently said on CNN….

“Pete Hoekstra did say that, and the inspector general at the CIA did an investigation, and it became clear that some CIA operatives did in fact cover this up.”

We also know that former CIA Richard Helms was convicted in 1977 for lying to congress.

I think we would all be better off to understand that the CIA exists to lie. Pelosi may be lying herself, but looking at past evidence this whole situation is not nearly as clear cut as either side would like to claim it is.

And not to mention that it was only a few years ago that republicans were accusing the CIA of sabotaging the Bush administration for things like the Iran nuclear memos etc.

“[The NIE] is so professionally unworthy, so intellectually indefensible and so fundamentally misleading that it is damaging to our national security.

The NIE appears to be a deliberate attempt to undermine the policies of President Bush by members of his own government by suggesting that Iran no longer poses a serious threat to U.S. national security because we apparently have credible reports that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003.”

That was Newt Gingrich

The CIA either lies or it doesn’t, but is sure looks like the former over the latter.

A CIA spokesman is NOT pushing back on House Appropriations czar David Obey’s charge that its docket of Congressional briefings inaccurately reported that an Obey aide had attended a classified meeting on interrogations.

The CIA chart states that a Senate staffer, Chris Mellon, attended a briefing on July 15, 2004. However, Mellon told The Associated Press that he left the Senate in April 2004 and did not attend the briefing.

On Wednesday, CIA spokesman George Little said the CIA has reviewed its record and agrees that Mellon was erroneously listed as having attended the 2004 briefing.

The CIA chart also shows former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Porter Goss attended a March 8, 2005, briefing as a member of Congress. However, Goss was at that time the director of the CIA. He took that job in November 2004.
