I startyed going to the Committee meetings and after attending 3 meetings, I was nominated as an alternate. In the meantime, I made myself vlauable by contributing of my time (I have IT skils that proved valuable). Now, just 11 months after starting to attending meetings, I have been nominate dot serve on the Governing Board og the County REC.

Committeman are nominated to fill open slots and elected by the opn membership of the REC unless there is a contest for the seat. In this case, you gather petition signatures (a minimal amount, typically less than 25 and you are placed on the ballot in the regular or primary election.

Committeemen and Committeewomen are critical to taking back the party. They are members of the County Central Committee and vote on all issue sin the County Party. Once you contribute and show your commitment and leadership skills, you will move into more and more influential positions. One of the most important functions you will perform is electing your County State Committeemen and Committeewomen. They represent the county on the State Committee and elect the state representatives to the RNC. There are only 160 some members of the RNC and they control the national organization. Thus control emanates from the bottom up, despite what some would like your to beleive.

Get involved, be respectful of the rules and the process. Make yourself valueable and participate fully. There is a role for you to play in bringing about the re-imposition of conservative values within the party.

I am in Florid so the rules will be different in MD but the process is similar.
