(major h/t to Aaron Gardner and Blue Collar Muse)
Sigh.
Janeane Garofalo is at it again. She still thinks we’re racist, and won’t apologize for it, gosh darn it. Well, I wouldn’t want her to; any apology she is capable of offering would be fake, and she’d probably spin it into more accusations concerning white hoods and cross-burnings in the Rose Garden. I don’t think round two of this sad battle really warrants an academic response, but in the interest of honor (and comedy), I’ll take a crack at it.
Darling Gigi~
I hear you’ve been saying some nasty things about my friends and me. Well, you go right on ahead and keep accusing us of racism (straight up) and hate speech and whatever else your shrunken prune of a brain can come up with. Really, it’s fine! If it makes you feel better about your political irrelevancy, feel free to have a go.
Oh yes, that’s right. Your political irrelevancy. I said it. Yes, I realize that you occasionally participate on various panels and whatnot, but if “you guys are all a bunch of RACISTS” is the best you can come up with, perhaps you should stick to stinking up 24 and leave the politics to those of us who are capable of opening our mouths without jumping the shark into crazy-town*.
I believe you wanted to know where we were for the last 8 years with regards to fiscal imprudence. Well, we were right here, doing just what we’re doing now: writing, speaking out, and behaving like grown ups instead of shrieking loons. (Let me know if you need me to slow down and explain what it means to behave like a grown up. I realize this might be difficult for you.) I think it’s obvious that conservatives are not exactly a protesty bunch. Personally, I’d rather write and debate with my peers; most of us are what Glenn Beck likes to call “reluctant activists.” Anyway, the whole tea party movement really exploded a few months ago, with Rick Santelli’s famous rant . It started as sort of a whim—after all, you DO know, in all your infinite wisdom, that “tea parties” have been springing up haphazardly for over a year, right?—but with Santelli’s help it grew into a public platform for conservatives who have been frustrated for years with the rampant spending that has quickly become the norm in Washington. Let me be clear: if Rick Santelli had made his rant a year and a half earlier, we would have been tea partying-hard a year and a half earlier. It’s that simple. My decision to participate was not a matter of my whiteness vs. Obama’s blackness, as much as you’d like to believe that was the case.
So you go ahead and say what you will about me, my friends here, and the conservative movement. But just keep one thing in mind for the next time you get up on your soapbox: to the far-left base you identify with, you might come across as a no-holds-barred culture warrior, but to the conservative base you hate, you are vapor. We are too dedicated to the success and future of this country to allow the ranting of a few hateful trolls to distract us.
The funny thing is, all it took was a little conservative ranting to distract a patriot like you.
Just a thought.
Your Pal,
Amy

I’m not the person you come to for validation.” Knocked the pins right out from under Garofalo, it did.

Archie Bunker Revisited
lukematthews (Diary) Wednesday, May 13th at 8:16PM EST (link)Janeane Garofalo is just a bigot. Once we had such stereotypes as Archie Bunker who knee-jerk defended the status quo. Now we have a new and improved bigot in Ms. Garofalo. Since a bigot is just ‘one obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his own opinions and prejudices’ to the exclusion of all others, Janeane baby is a prime example. She cannot even distinguish the difference between a 400 billion dollar budge deficit and a 1.8 TRILLION dollar deficit. Her hubris is amazing. But then, the Hollywood intelligentsia was never known for its ability to grasp such subtle nuance such at 4.5 times the deficit.
In addition, she evidenced chauvinistic qualities by ‘proving’ her point with one sign that read the oblique motto, ‘What You Talking About Willis.’ That is suppose to persuade people that we are all racists? Huh? One sign? If that would be the case, I guess all Obama supporters are tax dodgers and have bad hair. Remarkable.
I would beg to differ on the Archie Bunker comparison....

I'm totally ignoring you!
patriot2030 Thursday, May 14th at 1:05AM EST (link)Garofalo simply got caught engaging in hyperpartisan hyperbole and showed that she’s not decent enough to back down from it even if it means branding an entire group of people with one of the ugliest labels we have in America. So she’s just a putz (if a woman can be a putz)
But I also find it curious that a whole diary was created to tell someone who isn’t going to read it that she is being ignored. That’s what I find most comical about the diary. Reminds me of that Carly Simon song in which she sings “You’re so vain; you probably think this song is about you”. Well, apparently, it is! And this diary goes further since, as I said, it’s telling someone who probably won’t bother to come here and read it that she isn’t worth the attention of the writer. lol.

Amy Miller (Diary) Thursday, May 14th at 2:24PM EST (link)I saw your first paragraph, and shrugged along with what you had to say. I’m not hyperpartisan; I’m defending myself from attack. She is beyond hyperpartisan; the reason she did not back down from her position is because she honestly believes that I am a racist.
I devoted time to this diary because I enjoy snarking at idiot liberals who are incapable of having a rational debate. It’s fun! I didn’t write this diary because she enraged me, or because I needed to get something off my chest because she’s such a big deal and I’m scared that her word vomit will become the new vogue of the Left. She is, indeed, “vapor” as far as we conservatives are concerned. But this attack was not strictly political–it was personal, and that’s the perspective from which I wrote this diary. Politically, she is irrelevant, but she made this personal–and as such, she’s asking for it.
Anything else? Or are you done banging your spoon on your high chair?

Look, the reaction I’m getting from you and one or two others is kinda silly. In my initial comment I basically said that Garofalo was being grossly unfair, indecent and immature. I then remarked that I thought it was kind of funny to see someone write an impassioned diary (“for honor and comedy”) addressing Garofalo and asserting emphatically in that diary that she (the writer) has been, is, and will always ignore Garofalo. Perhaps others either don’t see the irony or don’t find it funny, and well, YMMV, but jeez, chill out. It was just a light-hearted remark.

Time to drag out the Troll Hammer.....
Susannah (Diary) Thursday, May 14th at 6:33PM EST (link)I don’t think that Amy is saying that she’s ignoring Janeane Garofalo per se. I think that what Amy is saying is that she is ignoring Garofalo’s SENTIMENT–which, right now, is obviously the sentiment of the majority of the American left–i.e., everyone who opposes Obama is a “teabagging racist”.
Don’t believe me, just listen to Anderson Cooper who repulsively said on CNN that “It’s hard to talk while your teabagging”, or Rachel Maddow and David Shuster (or, come to think of it, everyone at MSNBC) who went on vile rants about “teabaggers”. Shuster is such an idiot that he thought that he was being witty, when he was really just being a disgusting ass when he talked about “an army of dicks”–classy, huh? Oh, and don’t even get me started on Olbermann who just sat there and said NOTHING when Garofalo referred to American’s exercising their First Amendment rights as “teabagging, redneck racists”. BTW, Olbermann is a regular at The Daily Kos–which is most likely your favorite hangout, but I digress.
Could you imagine if Sean Hannity or Bill O’Reilly had referred to anti-war protesters in such vile pornographic terms? They would have been read The Riot Act and would have been fired on the spot. But two major cable networks–CNN and MSNBC–refer to Americans exercising their First Amendment rights in pornographic terms, and it’s just par for the course (one CNN reporter, Susan Roesgen, even yelled at a man holding a toddler)? I don’t think so.
I think that most of us at Redstate couldn’t care less if Janeane Garofalo lives, dies, or grows mushrooms in her crack (she probably can, because it looks like she hasn’t showered in a while)–but we’re damn glad that Amy was here to so articulately rebut her, and the American left’s, SENTIMENT.

pappyman (Diary) Thursday, May 14th at 2:58PM EST (link)As stated before, Garafalo just got carried away with her hyperbole. She’s an extremist flame-thrower, so it’s hard for me to get offended by anything she says.
However, what I think she was trying to say is that the tea parties were notably lacking in people of color. I can see where that creates a perception among many people that there is some racist reason conservatives appear to be mostly white. That’s a problem that must be acknowledged..
I have to disagree, pappy
Amy Miller (Diary) Thursday, May 14th at 3:08PM EST (link)Conservative activism is chum in the water for these “flame-throwers” (love, btw); she got carried away, but she meant every word.
I can’t speak for everyone, but the Tea Party I attended was absolutely diverse. We had the bases covered, although I will admit there were a great many white people in the crowd. The people who cried “RACISM!” after the tea parties are the same delusional idiots who voted for Barack Obama just because he wasn’t the white guy.

Hey remember when Janeane Garofalo was funny?

You know you’ve reached rock bottom when you’re told you have character flaws by a man who hanged his predecessor in a military coup.
