Magnificent Seven: Joe Biden Hopes for History With an All-Female Communications Team

Well, it’s an (un)official female first.

Ladies, look at these laurels; women, you’re wondrously winning.

And it’s all thanks to Joe Biden, the guy who’s now named seven gals to substantial communications posts in his (pending) administration.

Per his transition team, it’ll be the first time females have filled every communications role.

Guess he was going for that whole “diversity” thing.

And the comms department isn’t the only area he’s intent upon manning womaning with the homogametic sex.

Speaking of, here’s even more made history: the non-whiteness of his reported upcoming Office of Management director, as noted by National Public Radio:.

Biden also will tap Neera Tanden to be director of the Office of Management and Budget, a source familiar with transition discussions tells NPR’s Franco Ordoñez. The Wall Street Journal, which first reported Tanden’s nomination, says if confirmed, she will be the first woman of color to oversee the OMB.

Joe’s lifting the ladies:

Biden has emphasized the elevation of women to key roles in his administration. His running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris, will become the first female vice president, and he is set to nominate former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen to be the first female treasury secretary.

And how about the Treasury Department’s deputy secretary? Purportedly, that honor will go to Obama Foundation President Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo.

Wally’ll be the first black person to occupy the position.

This week’ll reveal more of Biden’s intended girls in government; but in communications alone, let’s see the Selected Seven:

  • Kate Bedingfield: The communications director for Biden’s campaign will take on the same role in the White House. Bedingfield was also communications director for Biden when he was vice president.
  • Jen Psaki: Psaki will be the White House press secretary. She’s another veteran of the Obama administration, and her roles there included White House communications director. Psaki [pronounced “saki”] currently oversees the confirmation efforts of Biden’s nominees.
  • Karine Jean-Pierre: Jean-Pierre, who will be deputy press secretary, was a senior adviser on Biden’s campaign and chief of staff to Harris.

Plus:

[A]shley Etienne, Harris’ communications director; Symone Sanders, senior advisor and chief spokesperson for Harris; Pili Tobar, deputy White House communications director; and Elizabeth Alexander, communications director for first lady Jill Biden.

On Sunday, “President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala” released a statement about the picks:

Communicating directly and truthfully to the American people is one of the most important duties of a president, and this team will be entrusted with the tremendous responsibility of connecting the American people to the White House

Former Obama White House Communications Chief Psaki’s psyched:

Like anyone lucky enough to snag a White House gig, all the above females are fortunate — particularly Wally. Had she not voted for Joe, she couldn’t have made history; according to him, she wouldn’t have been black.

And hopefully, Senior Advisor Symone thinks better of Jen than she did of erstwhile Press Secretary Sarah Sanders.

Symone offered the following in August of ’18:

“The President sent his White House Press Secretary out there today to basically poop on the people from the Press Secretary podium.”

Presumably, the new team will be less crappy.

Will Joe take the stage in January as the new President of the United States? That remains to be seen.

But if he does, he’s primed to show the ladies lots of love.

He’s kind of known for it:
