'Macho Man' Tucker Carlson Cracks on Jim Acosta: It's Pretty Shocking That He's 'So Proud of Himself'

As covered Friday by RedState’s Brad Slager, Jim Acosta’s new book — Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America, in which he admits his job title’s baloney (see here) — contains an attack on Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson.

In a tweeted excerpt, Jim calls them faux machomen — which, to me, is a strange characterization.

I’ve met Sean, and “macho” ain’t the word that comes to mind. Tucker made a name for himself wearing bowties. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever; but you wouldn’t mistake the guys for lumberjacks.

And, if you understand the definition of the word, you wouldn’t mistake Jim Acosta for a reporter (again, here).

Moving on:

Tucker returned the favor of the insult on Friday in his segment on liberal media bias.

The host showed a clip of Jim and CNN’s Don Lemon “[complimenting] one another for a job well done.”

Then Tucker offered this:

“No one has ever accused Jim Acosta of being a genius. Even by our estimates, it’s pretty shocking that he is so proud of himself.”

At the end of the program, Fox News contributor Dan Bongino brought up Jim’s jab:

“Jim Acosta writes a book about — wait for it — Jim Acosta!” We are living in peak Acosta right now. This is peak Jim Acosta. This book, it’s not about The New York Times’ failure to cover the Soviet Union in the ‘50s and ‘60s. The book is literally about Jim Acosta and his experiences with Donald Trump. Tucker, I hear you make an appearance in there. He’s upset you didn’t go to summer slam with him on a bus when you saw him. I guess he wanted some physical confrontation, which is just, again, totally peak Acosta.”

Tucker pointed out:

“I don’t yell at people I disagree with personally, because I’m not a liberal.”

“Me either,” Dan replied. “It’s not personal, buddy. Get over it, right?”

In case you’re wondering, toxically masculine Sean fired back as well, via social media:

As for Jim’s book sales, while he absolutely reeks like a thousand sewers at his job of reporting objective facts, I wish him well — it’s a great undertaking to write a book. But one user provided a not-so-great sign of success:

In a promo video for his book, Jim explains, “Trump attacks the facts and demonizes the media… … We’re still going to…report the news.”

No…You’re not (here, here, here, here, and here).
