The Gibson Guitar saga has taken a sinister turn.
It seems that the Department of Justice wasn’t satisfied with merely raiding the law abiding factories of Gibson Guitar with armed agents, shutting down their operation costing them millions, and leaving the American company in the dark as to how to proceed without going out of business.
Now, according to CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, agents of the United States government are bluntly informing them that they’d be better off shipping their manufacturing labor overseas.
In an interview with KMJ AM’s “The Chris Daniel Show,” Juszkiewicz revealed some startling information.
CHRIS DANIEL: Mr. Juszkiewicz, did an agent of the US government suggest to you that your problems would go away if you used Madagascar labor instead of American labor?
HENRY JUSZKIEWICZ: They actually wrote that in a pleading.
CHRIS DANIEL: Excuse me?
HENRY JUSKIEWICZ: They actually wrote that it a pleading.
CHRIS DANIEL: That your problems would go away if you used Madagascar labor instead of our labor?
HENRY JUSKIEWICZ: Yes
So the government attacked them in the first place by citing obscure regulations that probably weren’t violated about importation of wood. Now they are suggesting that all these problems would go away if they simply exported their labor.
Had it simply been said in passing by an agent, one could write it off as a lone sarcastic agent, trying to push buttons. But the fact that they actually wrote it in the pleading is a level of hubris that goes well beyond over zealous law enforcement officials and passes straight into what can easily be translated as an out of control and corrupt targeting of an American corporation.
When President Obama gives his jobs speech next week, let’s hope he has an answer for why our government would want to force and coerce corporations to send jobs overseas.
Here’s the audio of the CEO making the incredible allegation:

WTH?
DerKrieger (Diary) Wednesday, August 31st at 11:27PM EST (link)Someone help me understand why DOJ would suggest something like this? Especially when one considers the labor force of Gibson facilities, at least the one in Memphis with which I’m familiar. Memphis is a majority black city and Gibson employs a lot of blacks. I’m sure they’d like to know Holder wants them in the unemployment line.

I’m sorry I can’t remember the competitor’s name, but one of Gibson’s main competitors is a Democrat who donated to Obama’s presidential campaign and so this is one more case of a gross abuse of power and harassment by the Administration to pay back a contributor.
Pretty disgusting, huh?
Also, in the account that I read, it stated that the competitor is using the same wood that Gibson uses.

mykolas Thursday, September 1st at 5:53PM EST (link)Is Fender Guitars, whose CEO is a well-known GOP donor.
Fender uses SCADS of various imported rosewood for their American made series (sure, they use american maple, too). Why aren’t THEY being raided, too?
Maybe there’s something about the wood they continuously, and consistently get to sell continuously and consistently overpriced guitars… it is pretty choice. They also use a lot of other exotic woods, too. I’m not saying that they are going out and ripping down rain forests, but maybe thier suppliers aren’t 100% up-and-up… this isn’t so uncommon.
I’ll just go with that there’s PROBABLY more to the story, and I’m sure Gibson doesn’t want to lose or offend a lot of it’s business, which is indirectly entertaining teenagers and young adults wordwide…
overpriced?

One thing the Dems do is staff up all the depts that they create, or bloat, with career employees who are raging Leftists, who could never be elected to anything. They remain at all levels of the bureaucracy for the next 30 years. In 1992, the Carterites were reinforced by a horde of new recruits by Clinton. Ditto O’bwana, in spades. E.g., someone on the web right now is detailing the DoJ hiring frenzy of extreme Left-wing lawyers for career positions. Just as Ashcroft had to fight most of the DoJ lawyers on every decision, with back-stabbing leaks to follow if he won, a new AG, will be trying to steer a ship when most of the crew try to reverse course. Telling
Jim Mullins (Diary) Thursday, September 1st at 1:31AM EST (link)If this report is true, it is one of the most telling signs to date of the Obama regime’s global socialism. Huey Long’s socialism ended at the water’s edge; Obama’s does not.
In the Obama Regime’s view, rather than provide jobs and economic opportunities to the poor and oppressed people of Madagascar and the other countries from which Gibson is importing raw wood, those jobs and their economic benefits are inuring to the benefit os us greedy, slothful Americans who, despite being less than 3% of the world’s population, represent a quarter of its GDP (if this sounds familiar, roughly the same stats apply to our oil consumption). By devouring more than 8 times our rightful share of the world’s resources, we are permanently consigning the balance of humanity to endless poverty and oppression. Thus, we must cut ourselves down to our rightful size and take our rightful place in the world.
I mentioned oil a moment ago. On the production end, as you will recall, a couple of years ago, President Obama subsidized Petrobras (the Brazilian state oil company, in which George Soros is invested) and announced that he wanted the United States to become Brazil’s biggest customer. At the same time, he is doing everything in his power to kill domestic production. All of this is designed to (1) give other countries the opportunity to acquire both the monetary and physical capital to achieve production (which we had previously devoured in the most selfish fasion) and (2) transfer to other counties the vast income resulting from our importation of oil from them (redistributing wealth globally). On the consumption side, our gluttonous consumption of more than a quarter of the world’s oil, which is directly connected to our great standard of living and (until recently) prosperity, deprives the rest of the world of the economic opportunities that might result if we would move toward giving the other 97% of humanity a chance at a more equitable distribution of the world’s petroleum resources.
As conservatives, we of course believe that the solution to poverty around the world is to spread capitalism and the rule of law, rather than a socialist redistricution of wealth. The Obama regime, on the other hand, is the Kingfish on the global stage. Make sure November 6, 2012, is the beginning of the end of the error of Obama.

Sending More Jobs Overseas?
irish2dabone Thursday, September 1st at 7:48AM EST (link)If Gibson broke some trade laws in using wood from overseas then fine them.
However, “making them an offer they can’t refuse” at the cost of their US employees is just wrong and adds to our growing unemployment and more unemployment entitlements tax paying American can’t afford.
But wait… Obama’s Competitive Jobs Czar (CEO Imelt) is moving his jet engine factories to China, resulting in thousands of US workers losing their jobs while putting more Chinese to work. That doesnt even take into account GE moving its radiological & Imaging manufacturing over there, creating the loss of more US jobs. That’s by design! Worse yet,
1. USA BOEING will now have to compete against cheap Chinese labor creating unbalanced competition 2. BOEING has been blocked from moving their manufacturing to South Carolina, which is in the US and creating a few more jobs. 3. More US high tech military intel going to China! What is the rationale? So when you pull-in the unpaid taxes
GE escaped paying on profits, you have to wonder.
Then you have Ford Motor company moving some of their manufacturing over to China… costing more US citizens to lose jobs. While these companies are not alone in moving jobs overseas, there is a reason for this. Yeah, Imelt was and will remain a staunch financial campaign contributor to Obama… but it’s things like more stringent EPA regulations and fees assessed on US businesses that are sending more and more US jobs overseas.
That still doesn’t address the DOJ leveraging Gibson to send their jobs overseas, but leaves more questions around Obamas appointments to agencies like the EPA, DOJ, BATFE, FCC etc. where his appointee’s are having so much control over our countries future. Is that what then Sen. Obama meant by “fundamentally transforming” our country?
