Only House Republicans Have
IJB Wednesday, January 28th at 12:39AM EST (link)The jury is still out on Senate Republicans, but it’s not looking good at this instant in time…
When it came to TARP I, it was the House Republicans who had spines
civil truth (Diary) Wednesday, January 28th at 1:04AM EST (link)The Republican Senators sold-out – and John McCain sank his campaign. So it looks like a similar dynamic here.
Is comity a disease that turns senatorial spinal tissue into jelly – but to which Democrats have immunity? And can we find a cure before it’s too late?
The greatest evil…is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voice. Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the offices of a thoroughly nasty business concern. -C.S. Lewis

The Cure
OccamsRazor (Diary) Wednesday, January 28th at 1:22AM EST (link)Is simple.
Tie them to this pig as tight and fast as possible, before next week, and they’ll want to distance themselves from it. Because they know it’s going to be a disaster.
I talk to my guys on a regular basis, and since we usually see eye to eye, our conversations are typically my hammering them on converting their colleagues.
If this stimulus succeeds (highly unlikely), then the economy is an obscure enough issue to pull cover on-hell, give Bush the credit.
From a politician’s standpoint, it’s always fairly straight forward-re/election.
The assumption is that the economy is a complex beast with lots of moving parts and this solution is none of the kind. It’s as someone typed here before, the current economy the equivalent of landing a 747 with one engine and the pilot has no experience.
Our guys simply don’t think we’re watching and/or our will is broken.
Let them know it isn’t before next week.
Maybe they just fear the Silly Putty (tm)

No, They Haven't. Unfortunately.
