I'm not sure where the explanation came from that Mr. Ehrenstein's article was a play on Sharpton's idea that Obama wasn't black enough, or that he hadn't earned the top position from the black elders. Mr. Ehrenstien hasn't done a great job of disputing that explanation, as he is a flaming liberal who believes that the whites in America have no "guilt" for slavery. He has also said that the Republican Party is racist to it's core. In his original article he "tried to discuss how white LIBERALS were projecting the famous "Magic Negro" sterotype on Obama. In other words the white liberals were protagonists. Mr. Ehrenstein is also a homosexual who obviously was disgusted with Obama for his positions on Gay's. That, I believe, was his impetus for writing the original article, but he cloaked it in white guilt. He has recently made statements slaming Obama for his choice of Rick Warren to do the invocation at the inauguration, as we all know Warren does not support Gay marriage or the lifestyle. Mr. Ehrenstein claimed that Obama is not "his President" immediately after Obama named Warren.

When Shanklin first came out with the song, it should have been obvious that an African American can say whatever he will against another African American, but for any white or Republican to do the same, it was racist. I'm certain that most liberals and others who heard the song, but had no knowledge as to the original article, heard the word "negro" and the liberal media gave it legs. After all, it's not only Mr. Ehrenstein's opinion, but the Liberal media as well that the "Republican Party is racist to it's core."

I wonder what Mr. Ehrenstein thinks of the newer Shanklin song mocking Barney Frank- "The Banking Queen."
