Miami Abortion Clinic Owner Who Threw Live Baby Out With Trash To Be Charged With Crime!

This is a follow up to a story that was posted and discussed at length a month or so ago. According to the AP at Miami Clinic Owner Threw Live Baby Out With Trash :
As a review, from the Thomas Moore Law Center:

Shanice’s mother, Sycloria Williams, learned she was pregnant early in July of 2006 when she went to the hospital complaining of abdominal pain and bleeding. She decided to abort the baby, and visited the Miramar Woman Center in Miramar, Fla., where she was referred to abortionist Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique. Dr. Renelique inserted laminaria sticks to dilate the cervix and prescribed additional medication to be taken that night in preparation for the procedure the next morning at a Hialeah clinic.
Williams arrived at the Hialeah clinic on the morning of July 20, 2006, feeling ill and in severe pain from the medication the night before. Despite the fact the doctor nor any other licensed health practitioners were present, the abortion center’s receptionist gave Williams Cytotec, which induces labor and also dilates the cervix. Williams, however, began to feel even worse with nausea and cramping. According to testimony, the staff had her sit in the clinic’s recovery room area where she waited for hours in severe and increasing abdominal pain without medical staff available.
At one point, unable to remain seated, Williams braced herself with the arms of the recliner chair she was sitting on. As she lifted herself, her water broke and she delivered a live baby girl onto the seat of the recliner. The baby writhed and gasped for air, still connected to Williams by the umbilical cord.
Immobilized by shock, Williams watched Gonzalez run into the room, cut the umbilical cord with a pair of orange-handled shears, stuff the baby into a red biohazard bag and throw the bag into a garbage can. Shortly thereafter, the doctor arrived at the clinic and sedated Williams. The doctor’s medical records failed to indicate that Williams had delivered a live baby that was killed by the clinic.

Having witnessed this horror first hand, Williams, with the help of the Thomas Moore Law Center later filed suit which has lead to the most recent development:

Belkis Gonzalez, 42, was arrested Tuesday and charged with practicing medicine without a license and tampering with evidence

Please note the absence of a murder charge, or manslaughter charges or any legal charge which would acknowledge the indisputable fact that anyone with a modicum of common sense and any intellectual honesty would acknowledge was the murder of a living and defenseless human being.
So what does our scissor wielding trash bag holding scumbag face for this crime?

If found guilty, Gonzalez would face at least a year in prison and up to 15 years.

If given the minimum…we’re talking about 1 year: Even if he gets 15 years it’s not enough IMHO, But one year? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!
And as is typical for the Associated Press, we only get a part of the story. Not only did they neglect to describe the ghoulish nature of this crime as described above, there is no mention as to the manner of death of this child whatsoever…in fact, they throw in this lie:

Authorities were unable to definitively determine the cause of death — and Gonzalez’s role in it — because the baby’s body had decomposed by the time it was found eight days later, said Griffith, the attorney’s office spokesman.

Not so fast!!! According to the Thomas Moore Law Center:

“The Miami-Dade County medical examiner performed an autopsy which showed that the baby’s lungs had been filled with air before her killing, proving it was a live birth. But the examiner blamed the death on “extreme prematurity,” ignoring eyewitness testimony that the baby had been murdered. The Thomas More Society took an interest in the case when a local law school professor was quoted in The Miami Herald to the effect that if the baby wasn’t “viable,” then it “couldn’t be a case of homicide.”

Way to go AP…of course we wouldn’t expect anything else from you would we? My question is this…did you check the facts on this or did you deliberately hide the county examiner’s findings as to whether this child was alive or not?
OK…now…if you think everything else I describe is outrageous, and if you doubt anything wrong occurred here, lets look at what actually happened to this baby girl:

Anonymous callers notified police at least three times about the live birth and murder, and when police executed a search warrant on July 22, 2006, they found medical records but couldn’t locate the baby’s remains. Six days later, another anonymous caller told police the baby’s body had been hidden on the roof. Police responded but didn’t find the baby’s body on the roof. After another anonymous tip police got another search warrant and found the decomposing baby in a cardboard box in a closet at the clinic. DNA linked the baby’s remains to Williams.

Now I ask you, Are these the actions you take with an aborted child if the child was not born alive and something improper had been done? Looks to me like someone went to extraordinary lengths to cover something up here!
So, What would I do with these characters were I the prosecuting attorney here?
My understanding of this procedure, in addition to the medication to dilate the young mother she was supposed to be given other medication that would kill the baby before the remains were extracted in a later procedure. Apparently the nurse administering treatment missed that little detail because there was no licensed professional present to oversee the proper administration of medications. In my unprofessional opinion, since Doctor Renelique was not present when this procedure was implemented to ensure its proper implementation which resulted in the death of a living breathing human being, he should be prosecuted for first degree manslaughter. The outrage here is that it looks like he’ll only lose his medical license.
As for Gonzales…anything short of the electric chair is a huge miscarriage of justice!

I read the blip this morning that was on Drudge about this case. Wasn’t the mother also 15 when this happened?

The reason I ask is because if we had a parental notification law this type of thing would be far less likely to occur.

This is truly disturbing and I believe that a few of these people should be in prison for a long time.

Furthermore there should be an investigation as to whether this clinic has been a recipient of any money from the government.

This makes me sick to my stomach. This is depravity of the worst sort.

Someone above said the mother should be punished, too. I’m not so sure about that. Her baby girl sacrificed her life so her mother could learn an extemely valuable lesson and perhaps go on to be a great mother and pro-life advocate. Punishing her at this point would make the baby’s sacrifice as nothing.

I suppose, however, that it would take greater minds than mine to figure it out.

But she still went in with the intent purpose of killing her baby

tcgeol (Diary) Wednesday, March 4th at 4:30PM EST (link)

How should that not be a punishable offence? She might learn a great lesson and go on to be a credit to society, but that doesn’t affect what she did.

It seems like we (not just you, I mean basically all of us) are arguing both sides of the equation. If taking the life of an unborn baby is just as wrong as killing one that is born, why do we not consider the crimes to be equivalent? It is often said that, if abortion is illegal, only the doctors would be prosecuted. That makes no sense to me at all. The woman at best is an accomplice which demands punishment of some sort. If someone else is forcing her to have an abortion, they should face the penalty instead.

I don't agree with what she did...but let's be fair!

AceInTX (Diary) Wednesday, March 4th at 5:24PM EST (link)

She went in for what she’s been told is a simple medical procedure that involved nothing more than a blob of tissue. She trusted the Doctors to do what they said they were doing and indeed all of society has raised her to believe.

But I can’t help but ask, if this were successful abortion and the baby was killed in utero would there be any question about punishment for the people involved? Therein lies the horns of the dilemma that abortion represents…It’s the same child whether it’s killed by an abortion or whether it is born and eventually killed…the only question of legal status is a matter of seconds. If it’s head is still in the mother it’s legal to kill it…if it’s head pops out accidentally…then it’s a child?…someone tell me that makes any sense!

These are the moral dilemmas that abortion forces upon us! and I have mixed emotion as to whether the mother should be punished in this instance…but fairness tells me she shouldn’t be punished for her ignorance or believing the lies she’s been indoctrinated to believe.

The Doctor who was criminally negligent for not being there is another matter and I think he could and should be charged with 1st degree manslaughter…and the Abortion Mill owner who knew full well he was sentencing a defenseless newborn to death by bleeding it to death or suffocating it in a plastic bio hazard bag should get no mercy and suffer the death he imposed on this poor child!

If we are ever able to convince people through incidents like this that Abortion is murder…then the mother’s should be held accountable…things being what they are now…the best we should hope for is to punish the Doctor and the Mill owner who actually killed the child.

The fact that they refuse to call this burder and charge the participants accordingly actually helps our cause…and in actuality, little Shanice is a martyr to the cause of ending such heinous buffoonery!

mom2oneson (Diary) Wednesday, March 4th at 1:17PM EST (link)

If her intent was not a dead baby, why didn’t she go to the ER or call 911?
Anyone who is pregnant knows that severe cramping = hospital. Why would she go to the abortion clinic and not a hosptial?

I think this is about her own guilty feelings. The clinic receptionist and the physician should be charged for thier actions regarding the infant.. We shouldn’t let their actions overlook the mothers responsibility though Why didn’t she call 911 when she was discharged from the clinic?

There is time between delivering a baby and delivering the placenta, why wasn’t she holding the baby screaming to call 911? Who delivers a baby and doesn’t pick it up? Especialy a tiny 23 weeker?

Along these lines...

The local and state prosecutors need to step aside and let the FEDERAL prosecutors take over. This is a violation of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act Bush signed in 2002.

This is likely not an isolated incident. Imagine how many born alive babies have been killed by abortionists out of the woman’s view. The Planned Parenthood in New Jersey even acknowledged it happens all the time in a recent undercover video. Neither the feds nor local police were anywhere to be found when that was released.

To be charged with practicing medicine without a license and tampering with evidence without mentioning what the evidence pertains to or why it was even evidence is ridiculous! but that’s why the prosecutors are doing what they’re doing.

This way they can say the doctor and the owner of the abortion mill were punished without ever having to deal with the unpleasant truth that a child was killed in this instance or that all abortions involve a dying child!

Of course this incident (and the one in New Jersey) happened under Bush’s administration, and he could have started things going. He would not even attempt to enforce the very law he signed! Not one rule was issued to ensure compliance.

I guess it just goes to show that as with our border enforcement, federal laws are often ignored and forgotten based on individuals’ picking and choosing.

Unfortunately with so much lengthy and exponentially growing federal legislation bombarding people and prosecutors every day, it’s a wonder any of it can get read, let alone enforced.

Would such a law like Arkansas have help in these cases?

Moriah (Diary) Thursday, March 5th at 8:38AM EST (link)

I personally believe that the definition of viability in Arkansas law is outdated and should be changed. But if Florida had such a law it *might* have helped here…..

“(a)An abortion of a viable fetus shall be performed or induced only when there is in attendance a physician other than the physician performing or inducing the abortion who shall take control of and provide immediate medical care for a child born as a result of the abortion.

(b)During the performance of the abortion, the physician performing it and, subsequent to the abortion, the physician required by this section to be in attendance shall take all reasonable steps in keeping with good medical practice, consistent with the procedure used, to preserve the life and health of the viable fetus, provided that it does not pose an increased risk to the life or health of the woman.”

Apparently there are only 9 states that require a second physician present whose primary patient is the baby. It may only be a small step, but getting such laws on the books of as many states as possible would be better than not having them in place. It seems most states just require two physicians to sign off that it’s necessary, instead of having one dedicated to the second patient.

Even if the “doctor” who claimed the reason he didn’t show up that morning was because he had another patient whose life was threatened didn’t show, at least there would have been some doctor there to take care of the baby.

According to NARAL’s website, they support such laws — so at least one of the big lobbying organizations wouldn’t be against trying to get them passed.

Blessings,

Moriah

I think the idea that a fetus could survive an abortion should be enough to preempt the abortion all together!

AceInTX (Diary) Thursday, March 5th at 10:59AM EST (link)

For me, the most infuriating part of this whole thing is the reaction people have to what was done to this child. Yet had the drugs been administered that would have killed this baby, or the saline solution been administered that would have dissolved her flesh from her bones, or had the doctor gone in with tongs and ripped her in pieces, 20 seconds before she was born it’s ok…and there is no where near the reaction to those procedures as you do here yet a matter of seconds is the only difference between those procedures and what happened here!

AR Laws do nothing to address this matter of timing!
