DROPPING BEHIND: Clinton Back on Top in Latest Rasmussen Poll

After several weeks with Trump beating Hillary, but trending slimmer, Hillary is now up over Trump by one point in the latest Rasmussen poll.

RASMUSSEN-JULY28

From Rasmussen:

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone and online survey finds Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton with 43% support to Republican nominee Donald Trump’s 42%. Ten percent (10%) like some other candidate, while four percent (4%) remain undecided.

Although this is a technical lead, it’s not significant as a lead and can be considered a dead heat, much like last week’s result when Trump was up by one. However, it does show a downtrend and it reveals zero bump for Trump from the convention.

The more important number is Hillary’s new “popularity” (and we use the term loosely) among unaffiliated voters who were polled.

Trump still has stronger support among voters in his own party (86%) than Clinton does among Democrats (79%). But this week Clinton has taken a five-point lead among voters not affiliated with either major party.

Swing. Trump needs that. Both have low grades from their own party, though Trump’s is higher, but neither is breaking 90%.

We will have more in our Sunday Morning round-up, but so far there is still really no good news for anyone in the race not named Johnson.
