Her final words were “do you smell something burning?” Also on this date, in 1997, Neil Young cancelled his entire European tour after having cut his finger while making a ham sandwich. Young makes some very complicated sandwiches. On this date in 1908, the man behind the bunny, Mel Blanc, was born. After the cord was cut, Blanc looked at the doctor and said “gee, you know, I knew I should’a taken that left turn at Albuquerque!” Also born on this date, in 1913, was jazz musician Pee Wee Erwin. He died in June of 1981, and was survived by a talking chair and a genie in a box. And finally, today is “My Bucket’s Got A Hole In It Day,” the one day a year when MSNBC finds it difficult to carry water for Obama.
