Grayson’s “Draft-dodger” Ad Loses Top “Slimy Ad” Spot

… To another Alan Grayson ad:

.
For those who can’t watch the video, the Grayson campaign, in pseudo-Arabic scare font, has dubbed oppponent Daniel Webster “Taliban Dan.”

At Hot Air, Ed Morrissey says:

Gee, I seem to recall how Democrats used to shriek hysterically about having people impugn their patriotism for opposing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, suddenly, quoting either Ephesians 5 or Colossians 3 makes one the equivalent of a terrorist group that is our enemy in the field?

Which addresses a lot of what I pointed out earlier today about the draft-dodger ad.

Ed further points out that, like the draft-dodge ad, this one is short on factual basis:

TPM also calls the quote “damning,” which may be true only if one has never actually read the Bible and this particular passage in context. In both Ephesians and Colossians, the text does call for women to submit to their husbands as they do to the Lord — and also for husbands to “love their wives” (Colossians), and to do so “as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her to make her holy” (Ephesians). In other words, wives submit to their husbands, and husbands sacrifice themselves for their wives and children. It’s a passage intended on underscoring the necessity of both spouses to act in sacrificial ways to each other for marriages to become a sacrament, as well as to succeed in the normal, prosaic manner.

Over at Mediaite, Tommy Christopher has a response from the Webster campaign (full text below the fold.)

Webster Campaign Calls Latest Grayson Ad “Ludicrous”

ORLANDO, FL – This weekend Alan Grayson released his third negative television advertisement against Daniel Webster. So far, Grayson’s negative ads have outnumbered his positive ads (3-2). It is clear that Mr. Grayson would rather talk about issues from twenty years ago than the issues of the past two years. First Grayson mislead voters about a stairway, then he misleads them regarding Mr. Webster’s inability to serve in our military, and now Grayson compares Webster to the Taliban.

“Alan Grayson’s latest attack on my husband is shameful. Mr. Grayson seems to have a problem telling the truth and no problem misleading the public,” said Sandy Webster, who has been married to Daniel for thirty-eight years. “Dan has been an amazing husband and father, and the finest man I have ever known. Mr. Grayson should be ashamed of his nasty smears against my husband.”

Alan Grayson compares Webster to the Taliban, but the odd thing is that Grayson doesn’t even support our troops efforts in the Middle East to combat the Taliban or other Muslim extremist groups.

“Alan Grayson is at it again, misleading voters with nasty negative ads against Senator Webster. Mr. Grayson is certainly no champion of respecting women, he even publicly called a woman a ‘K Street whore.’ To compare Daniel Webster to the Taliban is ludicrous,” said Webster Spokesman, Brian Graham. “Alan Grayson is simply trying to distract voters from his record of higher taxes, increased debt, and rising unemployment. Central Florida deserves better than Mr. Grayson’s gutter-politics and dirty mouth.”

Daniel Webster, a family man and small-business owner, has dedicated himself to serve the citizens of central Florida with honor and integrity. Daniel Webster served as Majority Leader of the Florida Senate and the first GOP Speaker of the House in over a century.

Daniel Webster has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association, the American Conservative Union, the House Conservatives Fund, Governor Jeb Bush, Governor Mike Huckabee, Governor Bob Martinez, US Senator George LeMieux, US Senator Connie Mack, Congressman Mike Pence, Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson, former Comptroller Bob Milligan, former Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher, former Secretary of State Sandra Mortham, Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty, Orange County Clerk of Court Lydia Gardner, Orange County Property Appraiser Bill Donegan, Orange County Commissioner Fred Brummer, Orange County School Board Member Christine Moore, former RPOF Chairman Tom Slade, former Senate President Ken Pruitt, former RPOF Chairman Van Poole, former Senate President Tom Lee, former Speaker Tom Feeney, former Senate President John McKay, former Speaker Allan Bense, and former Senate President Jim Scott.

Great point in there about the irony of Grayson’s use of the Taliban as bogeyman. Evil enough to use for campaign contributions, just not evil enough to fight? Evil enough to oppose via youtube, but not evil enough to support our troops who are fighting them?

Now who is failing to answer America’s call to service, Congressman Grayson?

Exit question: Considering Grayson’s position on deferments, should we assume Bill Clinton won’t be stumping for him? Just wondering. h/t Moe Lane

I sincerely apologize for Grayson

I didn’t vote for him, never would think about it – but he’s my representative and is a complete embarassment. I have a hard time believing that the good people of this district ever voted for him in the first place.

The dude is nuts. Plain and simple. And he’s going down at the ballot box.

Webster Needs a campaign theme song. (Sung to the tune of “Candyman”)

Who can take pinko…
and his whack job adds
serve him in November
with a kick right in the nads

CHORUS
Taliban Dan
Taliban Dan
Taliban Dan – He mixes in the pain
And can hurt a leftist good!

Who can fight the zombies
that moan out “Hope and Change”
Take their Marxist Congressman
and flush him down the drain

CHORUS

Who can tell Al Grayson
Whatever he may whine
to stick his sodding earmarks
where the sun will never shine

CHORUS

This race needs to priority number 1 for the NRCC

pdawk Monday, September 27th at 3:55PM EST (link)

This is not only a competitive race, but a symbolic one as well. Alan Grayson has taken on the mantle of the hard core left, pandering to the masses as Daily Kos for donations and using his over the top rhetoric to gain himself attention and notoriety.

I heard he has 1.5 million in his account and his one of the richest members of Congress so he can self finance a signficant amount as well. In comparison I heard that Webster only had around $150,000. What that means is that he will be able to flood the airways with his hate-mongering ads and keep Webster from getting his word out unless we do something

Go to this link at the bottom and give the guy some money. How great would it be to not only win back the House but to kick out the lefts superhero. To not have to listen to this lunatic summarily recite Markos Moulitsas’s talking points on the House floor is worth the effort.

I just don’t see it in action. I don’t watch any local televsion of course but driving through Orlando, I can’t think of any places where I’ve actually seen an Alan Grayson lawn sign except the teachers union building right up the street from my house. I see Webster signs EVERYWHERE.

I will say that Grayson’s political career’s death throws should be humorous and hate-filled no doubt.

Can other vet candidates help?

I am thinking of Lt. Col (Ret) Alan West FL-22

http://allenwestforcongress.com/

and Nick “Gunny Pop” Poppaditch CA-51

http://www.popaditchforcongress.com/

Just a brief video appearence from each of them with some kind words for Daniel Webster, and a sentence of disapproval for the fake veteran ad.

Alan West is an expect on islamic fundamentalism and could help with the other nonsense ad. as well. Help as blow the heck out of the water…

Grayson is inexecrable

aesthete (Diary) Monday, September 27th at 4:45PM EST (link)

What a miserable excuse for a man. This was, to refresh the memory of RS’ readership, the same man who accused Republicans of having as their healthcare reform that Americans die quicker, the same guy who treats his constituents like trash or children to be patronized to, and who has accused Republican voters of any number of evil things. Webster needs to win, if for no other reason than to make sure that Grayson’s corpulent form can never sit in a place of power over Americans.

I do, however, take issue with your third-to-last paragraph: one can think something evil without thinking its eradication a judicious use of limited US funds and manpower, with examples including virtually all of Africa and a good chunk of SE Asia. Don’t take this as a defense of Grayson: I’m certain that his neurons don’t fire nearly to the speed that would be required to make this distinction. It’s more a defense of some conservative voices who don’t see OEF as it’s currently constituted as wise. I’m sure that any inclusion of such voices under said banner of hypocrisy was unintentional, however, so thanks for pointing out yet another disgusting aspect of Grayson and his DKos-styled rhetoric.

Grayson is just a symptom of a problem

kyle8 (Diary) Monday, September 27th at 6:24PM EST (link)

who here would not agree that he accurately represents all of the views of the Kossacks, and MSNBC, and most of the left? He just has the asinine attitude to come out and really speak what is in his heart.

The problem is that since at least the days of Ronald Reagan the left have become progressively (pun intended) more harsh, more angry, more nasty, and more stupid.

Having slipped the bonds of traditional religion and traditional morality, they have become exactly what the old time socialists and atheists said would never happen. They became little better than animals, ruled by emotion, lacking natural compassion, and ruled by their baser instincts.

Typical...

theproudinfidel Tuesday, September 28th at 5:46AM EST (link)

He sounds like the typical liberal politician, arrogant and conceited to the core, and juvenile as well. It’s like Alan Boyd, the 2nd District Congressman in FL, he’s a dedicated Pelosi lapdog that has been getting over $150,000 a year in subsidies for his “farm” while he’s in office, as well as his perks and privileges from being in office. He’s way down in the polls, and bringing up things from decades ago in his opponent’s past!! These liberals are indeed acting like spoiled kids about to be punished, and they’re hissyfitting to no end!

Pitiful excuse for a human

ag8tor Tuesday, September 28th at 6:44AM EST (link)

Nowhere in either ad does this piece of crap state his service record. One could only assume from these ads that he’s is an atheist, leftist who wants the USA to submit to BHO and become a 3rd world coutry with these so-called “progressives” at the helm. As a survivor of the Vietnam era I can only assume that Grayson would also label all those who got into the National Guard and the Reserves during that time as hating America too!

Is it a prerequisite

politicalqrm Tuesday, September 28th at 7:12AM EST (link)

that all Dems must have one form of mental disease or another to be a party member?

Between Grayson, Nancy Pelosi’s inane statements on the Tea Party, Kerry’s latest dumb opinion on our intelligence it’s laughable on the surface but in reality a tragedy.

Oh, wait, I forgot: what about the congressman that asked the Admiral if Guam would tip over if more people were added.!!?

These people are either ignorant or insane ( I go for the latter) , or just in a severe state of denial…. .. a major symptom of some sort of mental dysfunction.?

November 2 can’t come too soon..!

It is hard to believe that any one could be so desperate that they have to down right lie to get re elected.

I hope every one in Florida realizes what kind of man Grayson has shown himself to be.

The old saying by hook or by crook is exactly what Grayson is going forl.
