War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. E Pluribus Unum (Diary) Monday, January 18th at 1:53PM EST (link)I believe they’re doing this for a few reasons, in no particular order:
(a) deflect blame from Obama, blame the crappy candidate, and get it on record before the loss.
(b) deflect criticism for being too lefty-biased
(c) spur reliably lefty voters to turn out due to crisis mode
(d) position themselves for the miracle comeback story if Coakley pulls this out, and Obama is king once more, health-care takeover is not only unstoppable but now proven to be the mandate of all American people, etc, etc, etc.
The only hitch: I doubt they know anything we don’t know.

Nope.

MSNBC’s whiny rantlet merely echoes the arrogant sense of entitlement that is the euphemistically-named Democratic party. They actually seem incredulous that anyone could actually vote against them, since they are the enlightened elite. They had the same view in 1980 and 1994.
MSM says Brown win would end Dem "compromise" on HCR
SoFiMil (Diary) Monday, January 18th at 3:19PM EST (link)Just heard this on the 3:00 pm nationally syndicated news (WMAL – ABC affiliate), following Rush’s show. This isn’t the exact quote, but the top of the hour news said: “If Brown wins, this may signal and end of a Democratic party compromise on the health care bill.”
Yeah, right. Where have they *compromised?* They lock the doors on the “negotiation” sessions. These negotiations have only been between ultra liberals and liberal democrats.
Even in the House, where the Democrats have a clear majority, they only passed the bill by 5 votes.

capeindependent Monday, January 18th at 6:20PM EST (link)I was born and raised in MA and still live here, Wow it feels good to get that out… don’t judge me! Personally I have found my mind. I live in a state with “socialized” medicine and the costs are spiraling. I watch a State Legislature that spends money like it grows on trees. Redistribution of wealth is very active here in MA. We have corrupt unions, corrupt public transportation system. Wherever I use the word corrupt just insert expensive, wasteful or outright thievery. Government employees are paid better than private sector with bankrupt inducing benefit and pension systems. The state raised the sales tax during a recession, added sales tax on top of excise tax on alcohol, they even want to increase the gasoline tax, they want to increase the percentage of ethanol added to gas, etc. Totally out of control. It is really easy for our elected leaders to sit around and dream up new ways to tax us but they never try to save any money. We all need to voice our objections to this behavior. Do we elect these people to take the easy way or are we electing them to study the problems and find fiscally sound solutions. The idea of elected leaders is to represent us the people ( of by and for) while we go to work and and provide for our families and pay our taxes. Its all broken!! They can’t or won’t do their jobs so now we must look over their shoulders to make sure they do the right job.
The election tomorrow, I am voting for Scott Brown. I have heard his message, measured his integrity and the only regret I have is I only get to vote once for him. Martha Coakley, I still have no clue who she is,what she stands for, why she has her convictions etc. Coakleys’ two biggest failures in her campaign are the following: never try to dirty a candidate who is untouchable (Brown) when you don’t even have enough integrity to stand in his shadow, and get out your message and your platform. Really her campaign is and has been despicable and disgusting. I hope the voters throw her out of the AG office after she loses her Senate bid ( all fingers and toes crossed).
MSM both state and national, why did no one ever ask a couple of basic sound questions of both candidates. For example, have you read the House and Senate Bills? Why will you vote for or against these Bills? Scott Brown answered these questions and more throughout his campaign. The media has been failing us for years hence the empty shell we now call Pres of the USA. I would like to suggest we all organize (Tea Party?) and use the down time before the mid terms to contact all the advertisers of the failing media ( CNN, MSNBC, Time Magazine, for example, too many to list here) and advise them we are boycotting their products until they discontinue realign their advertising to media outlets that report the news, all the news ( ACORN video as an example) with minimal bias. The media either toes the line or goes out of business
Elected officials, does it burn anyone else’s butt that Obama made all the campaign promises and seemingly has no intention of following through on same promises? They only become lies if we let him slide on the promises. Yep, I said if we as a nation don’t draw the line in the sand and call him on his “promises” we have no one to blame but ourselves. It becomes our fault! Until we take control of our destiny Politicians and MSM will lie cheat and steal this great country into obscurity.
John Kerry
capeindependent Monday, January 18th at 6:34PM EST (link)Senior MA Senators words today;
“I’m no stranger to hard fought campaigns, but what we’ve seen in the past few days is way over the line and reminiscent of the dangerous atmosphere of Sarah Palin’s 2008 campaign rallies. This is not how democracy works in Massachusetts,” Kerry said this afternoon in a statement.
“Scott Brown needs to speak up and get his out of state tea party supporters under control. In Massachusetts, we fight hard and win elections on the issues and on our differences, not with bullying and threats,” Kerry said.
Brown campaign spokesman Felix Browne said, “People are tired of John Kerry’s partisan politics. His baseless accusations reflect the desperate last gasps of a flailing campaign.”
“Scott Brown is running a positive campaign and has been since the beginning of the race,” Browne said in an emailed statement.
I just threw out the Heinz Ketchup in my fridge! First item I will boycott for life. Kerry is up for re-election in’12 hope we can send him packing as well!

No genius. Massachussetts hasn't "lost its mind"...
conservativemusician Monday, January 18th at 8:22PM EST (link)Rather, it is regaining its collective sanity, something I thought would never be possible in my lifetime, considering this is the state that has so graciously given us Kennedy and Kerry in the Senate year after friggin’ year. Better late than never to wake up, I guess.
Throughout this whole process, I have seen just how much of a sense of humor God really has…and frankly, I’m laughing my head off at the amazing turn of events in the last week. The fact that this seat in the most liberal bastion in this country is in serious jeopardy of flipping to the GOP is a miracle in itself. I mean, we are talking about a GOP pick up of a seat which was held by arguably the most liberal and destructive Senator to ever serve this country and whose life purpose was to get this health care bill enacted at all costs, and yet who passed away before his dream was realized. It’s just simply amazing and a scenario that few could have predicted…save God Himself.
How ironic and yet how strangely fitting that Massachussetts of all places could provide the final nail in the coffin that is almost built for this health care debacle. So do us all a favor Massachussetts. Brave the bad weather tomorrow and finish the job, not only for your state, but for the future of this nation. We’re counting on you!
May God bless this great nation. CM
Democratic Twister
freesmith Monday, January 18th at 8:41PM EST (link)What’s really been entertaining over the past few days and promises to be even more fun to read and watch this week are the wild gyrations being performed by the liberal punditry as it tries to deal with Democratic defeat in Massachusetts.
There is a kind of “Through the Looking Glass” element to the contorted logic offered, what I would call a Reverse Occam’s Razor. With the simple, clear and logical answer to the question of why Scott Brown is going to be elected US Senator staring them in the face, one “progressive” after another twists him/herself into a rationalizing pretzel to come up with any answer other than the obvious one – that the electorate has turned against Democratic policies and performance.
Unable to accept this truth, each “progressive” commentator must engage in a game of Democratic “Twister,” a dance that grows more hilarious with each desperate, awkward reach.
Let the music play.
