So I’m just getting back into the news after taking a day off after the Redstate Gathering, and I see that there was a good bit of buzz today about a poster in L.A. depicting Barack Obama as Heath Ledger’s Joker. To summarize the reactions:
Conservatives: Ha ha ha. Socialism.
Liberals: RRRAAACCCIIISSMMM!!!!!!!!
Conservatives: Wait .. what?
This twerp: Where’s the noose? (this should be read aloud in your best Jan Brady voice)

Not so in this particular thread. Polarization purely for polarization’s sake is not so much a noble goal…and from the tone of your post, it sounds a lot as if that’s what you’re after.

Only a small amount of people knew.
Treading the fine line of being dismissive of “suspected” Trolls/Mobies is touched on in the be respectful, or be banned (the Diary) until we get a good handle on whether they really are or are not and expose themselves to the point of Moe swinging the Blamstick. You are right, however, we don’t want to openly discuss it too far
, and as for myself I don’t want to feed Trollanoia (that IMO sometimes occurs and not giving some any benefit of the doubt).

I’ve seen dozens of HOPE parodies and other on-line parodies, but nothing as visually striking as this. Especially with the viciousness of Ledger’s Joker and his subsequent demise. Something striking about that pic.

I in no way infer a nefarious motive of those that favor this depiction and am sure all but a very small fringe like it for bigoted reasons, but even as one that loathes the PC police and how Bush was depicted by the left, I would never be associated with this tactic and would urge my fellow conservatives and Republicans to abandon its use.
I favor free speech which includes my ability to dis-associate from other’s speech and speak myself.

And yes, the minstel show-like depiction of Obama as Joker is more visceral, but we could come up with all kinds of even more visceral depictions that would be rejected as over the line. I think this one is.
Maybe my Dumbo idea is not visceral enough, but there are people smarter than I that could come up with other famous liars in history with which to craft an image that captures the essence of why Obama can’t be trusted.
