and in case anyone comes in with the “he’s a nice guy stuff” about David Weigel, he really doesn’t appear to be. Nice people don’t even think in the manner it would take to type something like this:

“I really can’t figure out why they do it — lack of fulfillment seems like a good enough theory. After all, I’m here [WaPo :) ] , and they’re where I left them in 2008.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to return to my rewarding job and large circle of friends. I don’t know how my ego will ever recover…”

That’s the type of thing a guy writes that’s always been a total d-bag. I don’t know him though, so writing’s all I’ve got to go on.

The cat is the story. Awesome cat. Weigel has shown himself to be a jerk. Did I say I thought the cat was awesome?

Dave Westlake

itsjoanne Friday, June 25th at 9:55PM EST (link)

I hope Red State will consider supporting Westlake. I really think he can defeat Finegold.

Dave’s written a couple of excellent posts and have read a couple of diaries here about him.

I don’t think Finegold has won any race by more than 55%, and Wisconsin has been really close in Presidential elections in recent years.

presuming Mike Lee wins Senate race in Utah, how fast can he get to the Senate Judiciary Committee? How many hidebound R(h)inos are in his way? DeMint in the Senate was a holding action. DeMint + Lee in the Senate is a blocking action, and a force potentiator for all conservatives. Can’t wait. Yes the cat is awesome, too.

I am not sure it works in terms of time

It seems committee assignments are kind of done when you first get there. It’s all changey-hopey, and it also matters that when we go from 41 to [47 to 51, take your pick] some extra seats open up. Coburn was on Judiciary the day he showed up. Maybe we can get Mike Lee there too.

I have the feeling DeMint can make a play for the Leader (be it majority or minority, still to be seen). If he does, you can be sure Judiciary will (finally) get stacked with a bunch of hard-nosed conservatives.

Congressional leadership

BA Cyclone (Diary) Saturday, June 26th at 8:01AM EST (link)

I am quietly hoping the next Congress will have new leadership on the GOP side. Probably never gonna happen at least until we take control in one house, though.

These guys are capable, but personally I think there are better, more appropriate leaders better plugged into the will of the people than the current crop.

“If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions.” — James Madison

“Electing Republicans who don’t have the courage of their convictions may be easier in some circumstances, but it won’t save our country.” — Jim DeMint

Comes this: to writ, a lefty bemoaning the jingoistic urge of soccer (or its true name, futball) fans to cheer for one’s team, in the fashion of the troglodytes who cheer for football This is unparodiable. No, really:

“It reminded why these kinds of international competitions can leave me with such a sour taste. Why can’t we just recognize that Algeria played gallantly against a better US team, which won by the skin of its teeth? Why must an insanely miraculous athletic victory also be a reinforcer of cultural supremacy? It’s yet another reminder why it is so important for progressives to not just thrill to the joys of sport but be conversant in the politics of sports. The right will forever try to pump the worst kind of racist, nationalist garbage through our play, even at moments that by all rights should be above and beyond politics and just about the electric thrill of the moment. Especially given the right’s (and Loverro’s) contempt for “the beautiful game”, soccer of all things shouldn’t suffer the curse of being a cheap, political football.”

The act of defending any of the cardinal virtues has today all the exhilaration of a vice – G.K. Chesterton

Unparodiable is right.

“almost every cubicle and office let out an extemporaneous yelp. Yes, NPR went wild.” What, they couldn’t muster even two yelps? I guess that would be insanity.

I think soccer is sort of like a golf game where gophers circle the green and knock the ball away if it come close to the cup.

behind Obama when he was talking about Medvedev and Twitters?

The darn thing looks like he stole it from Achmed d’Nutjob’s office in Teheran. Really. Maybe Iran sent it over as a gift, including bugs.

or Giving print space to a fraud?

My first thought was…

To darnt bad we dun got us civilized out her’s in the wild-west. Why this kind thang is just dandy fer a neck tye partee, maybe we’s let a buffalo heard chase him fer a spel just longs enuf soas he woe’t be com one thar fance dor mats.

Seriously; is it really any surprise that the Media would plant one of their own among the conservatives, after-all it is the same media, that helped lift Obama to the Presidency. In the same manner Obama, the coat of many colors man, with his Saul Alinsky red bible and band merry henchman conned their way by pulling off the biggest fraud on American people. What a shame really that the message of hope and change ended up being a cosmetic front for the real intent. Many wanted a new direction too I believe, at least that is what the Main Stream Media told everyone. Even using FOX NEWS as a punching bag claiming it didn’t really report both sides and only served as an outlet for the Republican party. To our defense it is hard not to be swayed when all you hear is that druming band of skunks go on and on and on singing the high praise for Obama and little good about McLame. Most of us thought differently and believed that the Republican ticket of McLame and Palin might just pull it off. Many peeled away from their senses and sided with the younger crowd to give victory to hope and a change. To bad hope has been dashed and change is bringing America to a third world status. It might have gone that way just the same but what frosts us is the deception and the in your face arrogance that is allowing them to do as they please. Just maybe the Hope and Change is still there, we hope we can defeat them and change things back to a more solid direction. Maybe as well hope and change woke up America that had become fat and lazy and rather bland to the taste. As I believe our Hope is for our children and change means righting a wrong when we have made a mistake. Boy did we do a whopper this time. Change we will get regardless come November. Either we will survive as a Nation and as Americans or we will become an also ran to history. Yes it is important that we see it that way, because of people like Dave Weigel who took it upon himself to mislead and misrepresent who he was and what he stood for as an individual. That to me is a blow below the belt and rather treating him as a master player he should be condemned and stripped of his credentials as a reporter. He represents a voice of the people; the many, and the one. It used to be a noble profession before becoming filled with a macho attitude in the 70′s and 80′s at least it for the most part was that way up until they became too big for their pants and started looking for individual glory instead of doing the responsible. Many of us that grew up in the 60′s didn’t know the leanings of many of the reporters. They didn’t openly display their “tingles up their leg” or the “awe” they had for many in leadership. They reported. We can thank Nixon for giving them the coming out party that they wanted but now it is open season on conservatives and Palin and anyone else they feel a threat. No there has to be away of a figurative way to lynch a few for that deception that they pull on everyone. America should never just be handed over to them, the vision of our founders was not of their own glory, but the glory of a people yet to be born. Every generation before us sought to hand off America in better condition than that of their own. Where we go and how we get there should not be the job of the press, but of the people; which the press is a but a member. I am not calling for restrictions on the press but a moral line that they must not cross in favor of a single party. We need leaders and a press that are willing to have a moral compass and genuine honesty to lead the people rather than to force the people in a direction we care not go.

This deception by Dave Weigal shows one more corner of the liberal mindset and major difference between Conservatives and Liberals. Liberals are likable at times; but are natural liars and it seems to be second hand to them… Conservatives would rather tell the truth and let those by whom we are judged decide. And we have taken hits and our lumps for doing so; yet I truly don’t believe that Conservatives could pull off such a scam even if the Media was slanted to the right and were partners such a deception. Some one would say something because their core values would not permit such actions

The Conservative mindset generally abides with the laws of the land. And we believe; as a group that our freedom comes from the same honesty and respect for our Constitution and that of free speech and in return the freedom it gives us in return. (figuratively speaking) Oh, sure we may have one or two renegades that maybe could come close to pulling something similar, but it’s not in our values or make up to want to harm our neighbor; that being our fellow conservatives and that of the opposing view. Even if we thought it a noble cause for our mindset. Someone would find it irresponsible and reprehensible to our way of life. Same with the McKristal incident this past week while we might agree with some of the message we repect the civilian commander in Chief and we stand by the Presidents decision to accept the resignation of his general. had it been reversed the liberal media and members of the opposition would have a field day. They would have been sharpening their knifes the moment the words were uttered and salivating on the fact that it happened. It certainly didn’t help our cause but it only gave another foot hold to the Taliban and against the men and women who are serving there now. The General should have followed those words of history “loose lips sink ships” instead we have a press siding with the enemy. D-day would have never been pulled off if we had the current likes of Weigal working against them. As a conservative I wonder about the brain that condones acts such as Weigals. I can’t imagine the hate they feel to perform such sleezy acts. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth to know it is nothing more than a power grab, win at all cost mentality.

Could that be only because we don’t have the numbers? I don’t think so. We see within the Democrat party and the Left slanting Media; a group infatuated with power and control. We certainly don’t have the numbers or the machine to pull off the deception. I can’t see the gain of selling out your fellow man for a win. Granted I’m not in their shoes but still…

Then again we don’t have great liars either. To pull off putting President Obama where he is with the background he has takes more than trust it takes on the mentality of the Mob. Personally I believe it is why we are seeing his numbers plunge as they are. Dick and Jane American are not of this mindset nor are they complete crooks either. Most are hard working individuals that do love our country. We certainly don’t spend our time plotting to destroy our country. Sure we have rants about those in charge but deep down we understand that freedom isn’t just a word but truly a way of life. And it is that very freedom that has rewarded our efforts with prosperity. That is the exceptional-ism conservatives strive to protect and defend and it is sad to see individuals working against that same freedom by misleading and pushing others into the hand-grip of socialism. We see; “out of many one”, they see; the “one” for the many. And we have played right in to their hands….

Be brave, be courageous, we can’t afford a mistake now. Our future is at a fork in the road. We either win as free men or free men we will no longer be.
