I Don’t Want To Gloat… [Updated...Again]

Just kidding, I do...to my core!*

But before I do, I must first acknowledge the excellent work done by Swamp Yankee on this race. Make sure you stop by his Victory thread and give him his props. He deserves it.

[Update]

Apparently I didn’t check that picture well enough, it was accurate, though oddly placed.

This is why we don’t trust Wikipedia people.

(from of National Review Online)

Fellow citizens, what happened in this election can happen all over America. We are witnesses, you and I, to the truth that ideals, hard work, and strength of heart can overcome any political machine. We ran a campaign never to be forgotten, and led a cause that deserved and received all that we could give it.

And now, because of your independence, and your trust, I will hold for a time the seat once filled by patriots from John Quincy Adams to John F. Kennedy and his brother Ted. As I proudly take up the duty you have given me, I promise to do my best for Massachusetts and America every time the roll is called.

I go to Washington as the representative of no faction or interest, answering only to my conscience and to the people. I’ve got a lot to learn in the Senate, but I know who I am and I know who I serve.

I’m Scott Brown,

I’m from Wrentham,

Comparing Coakley to Dede

bk (Diary) Wednesday, January 20th at 3:12AM EST (link)

Capuano lost to Coakley in the primary and then told his fellow Dems that they were screwed. Was he prescient or what?

Like in the case of Dede (except that Coakley was elected rather than selected), they ended up with the wrong candidate who ran a horrible campaign and ended up losing a seat to the other party in what should have been close to a gimme.

The biggest difference is that the Dems losing a Mass Senate seat for 3 years is a much more devastating blow than the GOP losing a NY House seat for 2 years.

watching CNN and MSNBC last night was a riot

bk (Diary) Wednesday, January 20th at 3:17AM EST (link)

All the hosts and guests were beside themselves, and various Dem leaders kept sticking their foot in their mouth. They were arguing that the way to deal with the obvious voter disgust with what they were doing was to do more of it faster, saying things like “First we need to get health care passed and then we need to focus on jobs.” Sorry sweetie, that’s exactly what got you Senator-elect Scott Brown.

The Dem infighting going on now makes various dust-ups within the GOP in the past year look like nothing. I love it!
