‘What Sort of Man?’

Today there is a great post up on The Conservatives by our own Brian Faughnan displaying the absolute lack of compassion and downright cruelty of Barack Obama and his Administration.

The process will get more difficult for those who lost loved ones: Mohammed will attack and denigrate the victims. He will express pride in what he has done. Jihadists around the world will pay him tribute. The foreign and domestic press will dissect every step of the process. And in Manhattan, security will mount, and the alert level will rise, and New Yorkers will undoubtedly read that our intelligence agencies are facing more and more credible threats against the City. This will go on for years.

Even if Mohammed is eventually convicted and executed – by no means a slam dunk – could that result possibly be worth the pain?

What sort of man could fail to take into account the pain he is likely to cause for the 9/11 families, and for the people of New York?

Brian goes on to list a few bits of evidence as to what sort of man could do such a thing. Earlier today I came across another article that provided further evidence. While being greeted by our military members on Osan Air Base in South Korea the President quipped:

You guys make a pretty good photo op

This President can’t bring himself to actually perform the duties required of him by being the Commander in Chief and make a decision on troops levels and strategy in Afghanistan. Yet he can find time to bow to foreign leaders and use the troops for self proclaimed props. The level of hubris the President and his Administration have displayed is simply disgusting.

To me the answer to Brian’s question is easy to see. Obama is the sort of man who looks at everyone else as either an obstacle or a pawn. He will attempt to use the pawns to take down the obstacles. The troops aren’t people, they’re tools. The victims of 9/11 aren’t victims, they’re the perpetrators of a great injustice. Obama displays in his character the nonchalant hubris of your average dictator.

It is amazing how far we have traveled in such a short period of time. While I didn’t agree with every decision that was made in the Bush Administration, I could count in President Bush and his Administration to have a proper level of respect for the troops and humility in the offices they held.

Recently, under the cover of secrecy, President Bush went and saw the troops at Ft. Hood. He didn’t bring an entourage or a fawning press corps. He brought his wife and his deep seated respect for our military.

…and it is a great example of the class that George W. and Laura have.

I have yet to see any class from Obama and Michelle. I’ll never forget last year’s 9/11 commemoration when Obama carelessly tossed down the rose at the memorial. At least McCain had the respect to actually kneel down and lay the rose down.

I didn’t agree with everything Bush did, but at least he had respect for our troops, our country, and his office. Barry has no respect – none.

I miss ‘Dubya’ too.

Obama is not an fluke but embodies the dreams and aspirations of many – and we see the level to which political discourse has fallen, particularly on the left, though we have plenty of similarly mean-spirited who congregate on the right side of the divide too.

But the narcisism, this unremitting preoccupation with self – that is the mark of the demonic that will bring our nation down if it infects the body politic.

And unfortunately, the number of disease vectors are increasing. Which, for all his faults, I have to say that George Bush is a man of decency who follows the admonitions of Matthew 6:1-6.

Whereas Obama does the exact opposite.

And that, folks is the Biblical exemplum of hypocrisy, straight from our Lord’s mouth.

No comparison between left and right

Joe Rivers (Diary) Thursday, November 19th at 1:20PM EST (link)

I reject that, while agreeing with the bulk of what you said.

I am tired to death of hearing “bipartisan” applied as a concept to misdeeds. Duke Cunningham had his fingers in the cookie jar, so that is some kind of equalizer for Rangel, Jefferson, Dodd, Franks, Reid, Burrus, Feinstein, Holder, and all those thousands of Democrats who openly steal and cheat. And that all pales in comparison to the cheating and stealing being done by left-wing orgs like ACORN and the unions.

Republicans have some bad apples. The whole Democratic Party should be renamed the Kleptocratic Party.

I like you, but I hate that comparison.

I was referring to followers, not elected officials

civil truth (Diary) Thursday, November 19th at 2:29PM EST (link)

I fed up with this “moral equivalence” agrument at the elected official – leadership level and organizations, as you have alluded to in your second paragraph. No disagreement with you.

What I was referring about, and I could have been clearer, was to the citizenry of our country – the blog world level (e.g. Daily Kos), letters to the editors, radio show call-ins, etc. I was noting the filth and hatred that comes from the left but also noting that certain parts of “our side” can be and are vicious too, I have to call it as it is, but no exculpation of the left stated or implied – I’m against this period.

I don’t want mob rule regardless of political viewpointb being espoused, because even if they start out “on our side” they will end up destroying liberty in the end.

And if lack of compassion and cruelty becomes the dominant theme of our political discourse, I don’t see how the deliberative, representative government envisioned by our Founding Fathers can endure much longer, because we will end up electing and glorifying too many leaders with that same spirit.

The greatest evil…is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voice. Communists, criminals and low lifes…..

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

The answer: a man without character or conscience.

Did America Look Into A Mirror Last November And See MAObama?

Ausonius (Diary) Thursday, November 19th at 1:24PM EST (link)

One of the slogans heard about the nature of democracies is that our leaders are reflections of us.

Does America see its reflection in BIG BRObama? Obviously enough Americans thought so! And now we reap the whirlwind of that decision.

But how true was that reflection? Was it not perhaps filtered through the funhouse distortions of the MSM, through BIG BRObama’s own lies, and through the laziness of an illiterate and aliterate electorate?

Perhaps. However…

Narcissism is the social disease of our day: the selfishness seen in the way people drive on the freeways, in the way people behave in the restaurants and other public places, etc. such selfishness is undoubtedly related to the election of a fellow narcissist.

Yet I want to believe that the simple cure for narcissism – consider your behavior through the eyes of people around you – will spread, and that a majority of America is NOT so selfish and deluded by the funhouse-mirror distortions of BIG BRObama that he will be able to remain in office.

Today, I just finished reading Chang and Halliday’s bio “Mao, The Unknown Story” and you are correct. Obama displays the hubris of a dictator. The obstacle/pawn distinction is precisely the way dictators view every man, women and child under their domain. People who had been faithful to Mao for decades were simply cast aside when it pleased him, including his children and wives. Reading this book gave me great insight into Obama’s thinking. The only comforting thing is that like Mao, Lenin, et. al. they die lonely, desperate and frustrated

This is a major initiative in the expression of what the left, top to bottom, calls their “ideals”. That’s what counts and that’s the sick and scary part. The pain of the 9/11 families as well as all the other drawbacks count as nothing against the perverted ego’s of the leftist mass cult.

I agree with most of the things on this site but this is not one of them.

The people of NYC are not scared to have these men brought into the city to try them for these horrible acts. I live and work in the city, my girlfriend works across from where the trial would be, we are not scared.

Saying that we are is wrong, and it gives off the wrong message. Why should we be afraid of them? They are weak and those who say this is wrong are aiding in their strength.

They should be tried and convicted in the place they attacked, let’s show them that they are not scary but pathetic humans.

what sort of man would use the legal system to try

a criminal or terrorist? All other terror suspect that committed crimes in the USA or on American territories are tried in civil courts not military. And maybe you don’t know that Naval Vessels are, by International Treaty, considered a physical part of the Nation it belongs to. Thus the terrorist attack on the USS Cole was an attack on America’s physical self.
Why then are the accused terrorists for that attack being tried elsewhere?
Could it be that there ARE political reasons?
Reasons that the President and his Attorney General have lied to the American people about…………………………..again?

USS Cole, is one thing. But all other terrorist attacks on American soil are tried in civil court. Now the ft hood terrorist should be tried in a military court since it was a military officer attacking other military personnel.

I have a problem with this. Actually, even if one were privy to Obama’s personal motivations and drew similar conclusions to yours, the fact is that Obama would be correct that our troops are tools. Each of our serving military members and the military as a whole are willing tools. Their job is to implement the will of the American people when force is deemed necessary and when lawful orders are issued.

I do see the distinction you made that O views the troops as pawns and that is unfortunate but typical for world leaders down the centuries. But Obama would be correct in viewing our troops as tools.
