Religion that worshiped the state. It’s amazing that many don’t seem to see that, they still think that Obama and the Dems don’t believe in Worship the state. The African-Americans(or just Americans) or useful idiots on to way to this. On another point, whats old becomes new again.

While I have not read much of Alinsky, his and Gamaliel’s use of the actual Paul and Gamaliel are obvious attempts to change them, as other organizations have done with Jesus, into something they are not. I am certain Gamaliel did not train Paul in any organizing techniques and seeing as it ridiculous to even claim Paul was anything close to a community organizer. They do describe themselves as inter-faith, and I hope any Christian minister in this group would realize this was idolatry. However, this glimpse into their thinking does not give me a positive outlook on the rest of their theology. As to the ‘a’ sound, its honestly hard to replicate without being in that room and with that camera, but I don’t think its to far of a stretch to say the ‘a’ sound can be explained by either the ‘o’ and ‘d’ in God being said at the same time or the ‘o’ in God being replaced by more of an ‘a’ sound, which I hear quite often. I realize that it probably seems like I am grasping at straws, but after hearing the last several sound much more like O God, it seems more likely that without someone prompting them, which I guess there could have been, they would not have switched from Obama to God Also, bad theology or not, it still seems more likely to me that they would say O God.

So to them praising Obama is not idolatry. And regardless of acoustics or out of sync repetition I find it hard to make a soft “A” sound out of a “D” sound, i.e. Obam”a” versus Go”d”. Unless the people saying it all say God”a”, which is abnormal to say the least.

Sorry, I did not mean to imply that it would be right at any point. I can hear Obama in the first two, but I honestly don’t think that’s what they are saying. Hearing the later times where, in my opinion, they are saying O God makes me think that it is the sound quality and acoustics that make it sound like Obama. I’ve seen people other places talking about counting syllables, but it is hard to count syllables when people are reciting something at different times. Like I said in my first post, when I heard it the first time I was outraged and would still be if I thought they were saying Obama any of the 5 or 6 times they repeat this. If they are saying Obama, then these people are committing idolatry and I question any church that would allow any of the people at the front saying Obama, or leading people to say Obama, to keep whatever position they are in.

Respectfully, I will have to disagree. The first two, especially the second, do sound like Obama, but after that you can clearly hear O God. To me it sounds like the first time the people clearly did not end together in saying anything to the point where it does sound like Obama, so you hear it in the rest. Like a lot of the people here I have been in churches where they do pray like this or have heard responsive readings and if someone watched a video with bad sound quality of us, it would be hard to understand. I could be wrong, but I honestly think that a majority of the people are saying O God.

When I first watched this I was outraged. However, I listened to it several more times without looking at the screen, just listening and I am pretty sure they are saying ‘O God.’ There are a couple of times that are still pretty close to Obama, but those are the times when the people are saying it are less in unison. So while I think there is a personality cult around Obama and people basically worshiping him, I do not think this is an example of that.
