I’m a flat earther, according to most politicians.

My dad is in the foundry business and just sent me this note:

You aren’t the only one to visit the center of power [I went to the DC Tea Party].  Flew out and back the same day.  One very discouraging thing, confirmed by the American Foundry Association’s lobbyist, most people in DC think that if you don’t believe in global warming and that man causes it and man can correct it, then you are like the flat earth believers. It is considered settled science by a vast majority of the political class.

This of course is the foundation of Cap and Trade which will further burden the already burdened and struggling foundry industry.

Do you know any conservatives who believe in man made global warming?  I don’t.  My friends and acquaintanences consider it a joke and politicized science.  I would love to see our next Republican Presidential Candidate stand and boldly declare that man made global warming is a hoax and junk science.  Even if she/he gets skewered by the libs, the common sense crowd would LOVE it!  What are the chances of that happening?

Greatest scam in history

You’ve got to give it to Al Gore. He’s pushed his propaganda for years, reaping the capitalist profits from his preaching of doom and gloom. And every time his theory is debunked with science, he just jerks the wheel and takes another turn, hoping his minions will not look out the window, and will instead gaze at the man driving the bus. History shows that the earth has routinely gone through phases of ice ages, and warming. Those phases not being influenced in any way shape or form from man made factors. And now, the president has said that all families must pay an average of $1700 per year to fix this problem. MIT scientists say that it’s more like $3200 per family.

I however happen to disagree with your father. We are not the flat earthers. Telling people doom and gloom will come from their actions (You’ll fall off the earth if you sail west). We are the ones saying the earth is round, and that the flat earth preachers are not looking at the facts. Conservatives are todays Columbus, ready to take on the establishments preachings, and one day, we’ll prove them wrong with the science they refuse to look at.

I think you are right.

And my dad doesn’t believe it, he just said that is what they consider us. I was trying to think of a good descriptive term for the global warming chicken little thinkers, and I guess you are right that they are the real flat earthers. Only it’s the old understanding that is right and the new that is wrong. So, do you think there is any chance that we will get a candidate who will tell it like it is? I know some day we will be vindicated, but don’t you think it would be powerful for our candidate to bravely call this the bunk that it is?

To be honest

I really don’t care if we have a politician that believes in man made global warming. All i want is a politician that isn’t going to raid my wallet because of his belief.

Maybe we can call them Hot Earthers.

Hot Earthers

Hey, I like it! And really, you hit the nail on the head. It’s all about money, really. Can a foundry produce parts using less energy? Well, if they could they would be doing it now! So, no amount of new taxation will reduce the carbon footprint, unless of course it forces companies out of business which will happen. But the ones that remain will still use the same amount of energy and produce the same carbon footprint, they will just have to pay more. I don’t understand the thinking behind arbitrarily reducing the number of credits allowed in order to reduce carbon emissions. I guess they are very willing to push companies out of business regardless of the job losses and benefit to countries like China.

I still think it would be awesome to have a candidate call out the hot earthers (love the term!) and stand with the average joe in this country who laughs at the ‘science’ of global warming.
