Biden Donors Fume Over His Pro-Hamas Stance, but There's a Big Problem With Their Complaints

There's trouble in paradise as Joe Biden tries to stockpile cash for the stretch run of the 2024 presidential campaign. According to a new report, some of the president's biggest donors are furious with him over his recent pro-Hamas stance, and the results could be catastrophic.

As RedState reported, one of them is Democrat megadonor Haim Saban. He recently sent a letter to the White House railing against Biden's decision to cut off weapons shipments, which were appropriated by Congress, to Israel.

"Let's not forget there are more Jewish voters who care about Israel than Muslim voters who care about Hamas," Saban said, saying this sends a terrible message to allies and shows Biden will flip to political pressure. "Bad..Bad..Bad decision, on all levels. Please reconsider."

Other groups also offered critiques, though with a far more gentle touch.

  • In response, some donors and influential pro-Israel voices have grown more critical, though not as publicly as Saban.
  • Mark Mellman, the president and CEO of the influential group Democratic Majority for Israel, told Axios that "there has never been a president more pro-Israel than Joe Biden but at the same time we are very concerned about what appears to be a significant shift in US policy."
  • He added: "There are a lot of people in the pro-Israel community who are very worried, very upset and very angry."
  • "We don't know what the consequences are going to be politically."

Is this all a problem for Biden? I would assume any disunity can't help his cause, especially among a group that has so stalwartly voted for the Democratic Party for so many years (the smaller Orthodox Jewish population being the exception).

There's a bigger problem with all this, though, and that's the unwillingness of those crying about Biden's pro-Hamas position to actually do anything about it. Even in the above quote, you see the pathetic equivocations. "There has never been a president more pro-Israel than Joe Biden," the CEO of a major pro-Israel group proclaims.

Really? Because I'm pretty sure the last guy who never cut off aid shipments to Israel and brought peace to the Middle East was just a wee bit more "pro-Israel" than the current guy who gives billions to Iran and backstabs the Jewish state at every turn. Biden has repeatedly bent the knee toward Islamist radicals, and he's spent the last several months doing everything he can to prevent Israel from finishing off Hamas. Does that sound very "pro-Israel" to you?

Yet, these liberal groups can't quite take the plunge, and it's an incredibly self-destructive mindset. Stop making excuses for a president who cares more about appeasing Muslims in Dearborn than freeing American hostages in Gaza. Speak with some moral clarity for once.

That's probably not going to happen, though. These big donors and advocacy groups will almost certainly continue to straddle the fence, making rumblings at times but never crossing the line that needs to be crossed in directly calling out Biden for what he is. The melding of Islamism with left-wing woke culture is not going away, and liberal Jews will not escape its wrath. The time to stand up and leave no ambiguity is not tomorrow. It's now.
